last time i was home i ran into someone from high school who wanted to know what i'd been up to. when i said i was heading to law school, she asked, "so, what can you do with that? is that a program through the local community college?" i honestly did not know how to respond.

ohwellok & jd_voyage,
did american call you yesterday and today, respectively? i'm wondering if they are done contacting everyone they had planned on pulling from the waitlist. i'm going on a cruise soon and will not be reachable. i wonder if i should even bother letting them know i won't be around.

summergirl- yes, i received the call from american yesterday (july 20). if american is your top choice, it's probably a good idea to let them know if you're going to be unreachable for a little while, especially if you would definitely attend if accepted. some schools allow you to designate a person to accept a spot on your behalf and send in a deposit, so perhaps that would be an option for you. good luck, i hope you get in!

Well, I'm moving from CA to............ CA? Less than 200 miles from my undergrad...the UCs are pretty darn convenient. Getting that silly UHaul in a little less than 3 weeks. Anyone else heading to different places in CA from somewhere within?
yay slugs! i'm also a fellow ucsc grad, although i'll be leaving california for law school. moving to virginia, starting the drive this sunday. good luck at davis!

the american waitlist is moving! i turned down a spot today...at this point i am pretty committed to attending another school (with money), so it would take a lot for me to be persuaded to decide otherwise. for those of you whose top choice is american, i hope you get the call!

I still find myself standing to the right on them, or else pissed at the people standing on the left when I'm trying to walk up...then I remember I'm not in London me, too! and it doesn't matter where i am...if i'm on an escalator, i always think...stand on the right, walk on the left. oh, and mind the gap! dolce, i'm glad you are ok! i have a lot of family in england/london. it is always so scary when something like this happens. thankfully my family called that day to let us know that they were fine. it was such a relief. dolce is so right...london is an amazing city, and england is a beautiful and wonderful country. please folks, give your support in any way you can. i know we sure needed it after 9/11.

Anyone know of good on-line stores for carrying cases?
What about those backpack laptop carriers? Make sense?
I'd prefer an "over-the-shoulder" style, but am a little worried about room for books.
Did I mention that I have no idea what I want or what I'm looking for?
Thanks for any leads...
there is a huge thread on this topic called "girls, let's talk laptop bags." loads of good info, you should check it out!

well, i finally got my waitlist letter...turns out it was sent to my parent's house. it's nice that i didn't get rejected, and i'll be staying on it. however, seeing that there are so many people on it, i'm not really expecting anything to pan out from this. oh well.
