Law School Admissions / How helpful is it really?
« on: November 14, 2004, 04:31:32 PM »
The "Late Applicant-HELP" thread regarding if a December/January submission of an application is too late got me thinking. Do those of us that submitted our apps in October have any sort of real advantage over those 2 months later? Would an applicant who is more toward the 40% on the accepted scale but has the application in by the 2nd week of October be a more likely candidate for admission than someone who is more toward the 60% but submits everything over XMAS break?
I just don't know how rolling the rolling admissions process is.

Law School Admissions / Call em up?
« on: November 09, 2004, 06:40:39 AM »
I was reviewing everything in my online LSAC file only to find that one of my safety schools has yet to request my law school report. This vexes me in that I transmitted the application on 10/12 and everyone else who I've applied to requested and recieved everything weeks ago.

I wrote them an email basically saying "WTF" have no not heard back from them (been 5 days). Should I call their office? When is a good time span from the email to the phone call so I don't appear impatient.

Choosing the Right Law School / Law Fair
« on: November 03, 2004, 08:42:39 PM »
There is a law fair coming to my school tomorrow (I'm still an undergrad) with my 2nd and 3rd pick being represented.

While I am gathering this is a whole bunch of tables with brochures on them, there will still be admissions personnel there. Does anyone know how these work? Will I get a chance to talk to this people beyond "Do you have any free pens?"
And if I do talk to some admissions reps, what are the sort of questions I should be asking them? I am quite limited in my interview experience and I have a feeling some LSD vets have braved this before.

Any advice/info would be greatly appreciated.

Law School Admissions / In-State Easier?
« on: October 10, 2004, 07:20:03 PM »
If you are in-state and applying to a state school, say, University of Illinois, do you have any real advantage over other applicants?
Some other thread was talking about UTexas having easier standards for in-staters over out of staters which got me thinking...

Law School Admissions / Applying before LSAT scores are recieved
« on: September 27, 2004, 01:20:15 PM »
I am taking Saturday's LSAT and was wondering if I should delay submitting my applications until I recieve my score. Will the schools I am applying to just hold my file until LSDAS sends them my score when LSDAS recieves it? Will an applicaition recieved by the admissions office Oct 2 be in better standing w/o a LSAT score than if I send it in on Oct 25th (when the Oct 2 takers recieve their scores)?
