Ugh you guys better pick and research which part of Africa you wanna go. There are some parts of Africa I wouldn't even fly over, let alone live there. Here are some hot spots that you want to avoid at all cost.

Sudan- Arabs are slaughering all the Black Africans right now.
Rwanda- They are still having some minor problems but it's much better. The UN is conducting the Rwanada Tribunal right now for the Genocide that took place in 94'
Algeria
Botswana
Burkina Faso
Burundi------- STAY AWAY FROM HERE.....
Republic of Congo
Ivory Coast-- haha yeah right...stay away from here too
Liberia
Tunisia

"morocco" can be fun...casablanca...
or perhaps "madagascar" is not such a bad idea very kool flora and fauna and some interesting wildlife...

"the gambia" is nice to visit as well.

i have a few friends who are from "ghana" a beautiful respite
But "live" there....hmmmm?

most of my friends from those places are sticking with the usa
it's not better or worse it's just different and if ya have lived in the usa for most of your life...we are caught up in american culture...much the same way that everyone can't shake their accents.

"new zealand" or "austrailia" are get away from it all places just a little expensive...
i'd say talk to folk from morocco, ghana, the gambia, but new zealand was cool i was there for two weeks in 1987...

but to really get away from any problems go to antarctica!!! that's the only continent gonna be left if some heavy *&^% goes down!!!

Somebody said earlier about how black people are forced to move into the unsafe, dirty neighborhoods. I am pretty sure, but not certain, that what makes a neighborhood safe/unsafe clean/dirty is mostly the people who live there. Now stop fooling yourselves into thinking that other people come into the black community and throw trash on the streets and commit crimes. I see it all the time. People WHO LIVE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD just throw their chinese food cartons, beer bottles, and whatever else on the street. The people next door to me throw all kinds of crap in my yard. Then people use that to show what a terrible place society is forcing us to live in.

I don't care what anyone says. Getting a damn education is the best way to protect yourself in this society. It won't solve all your problems, but its the way to start. I just finished working in a public high school in the Bronx last semester. I was there everyday in the classroom and after-school. I am sorry to say that i was more than dissapointed with the way that the kids (mostly black and hispanic) were acting. There is absolutely no way that the next generation of blacks after us will be able to stop themselves from being forced from one place to another if they don't start taking this *&^% seriously.

I heard of a new thing that should catch on soon...its called responsibility.

And i can talk about it in this case because i make sure that i don't add to the problems in my neighborhood, i am getting my education, going to law school, and in  a few years, noone is gonna be able to move my ass nowhere.

ja rastafari!!

the nail is snug in the hole and square and plumb!!
keep it righteous man!!!!
i really like your talk!!

It's not going to happen. The politicians have an invested interest in gentrification. Perfect example, is when Bill Clinton purchased property for his office in Harlem. Harlem N.Y. is the center of everything and white people were sick and tired of traveling so far just to get to work. My aunt owns three brownstones out there and she was telling me that she saw this coming for a long time since she has close friends people in Real Estate. It's like a chain reaction, when the demand for property in certain area goes up by a certain class of people, the market reacts. IF someone of status purchases property in the area (i.e. Clinton) the values go up. That's how it usually goes. The people who can't afford to stay are screwed over. What do you think can be done Cali?

in nyc the "gentrification"  or "change in money class" happened during julliani
time...

1.  the parks (yes, there are many) were cleaned up and the homeless pushed out

that was the KEY and it took some time...remember during the la riots????
well in nyc the parks were being turned back into parks...not camp grounds and drug trade locales

2.  subsequently the facing buildings around the parks were fixed up...price goes up

3.  then the price of rent creeps up until it is an owners market...cheap at first but then a quick climb.  it is a trend primariliy peeked during two big national holidays...memorial day and (i think) labor day...those are  big rent market swing days...many variables involved...i can explain later.

4. and after all....once you buy in nyc...your going to have super prime real estate i dare anyone to challenge me on DAT one...cuz, i was under the towers when they fell and i smelled prime real estate in my disgust....

5.  now, a "new money class" can and WILL buy...thus...an archaic...but nice word..."gentrification" damn...when are people gonna learn that you need poetic license...piss on the word "gentrification" and get with modern day..."its just people wid mo money" and "corporate chains like starbucks" it aint the "landed--gentry--gentile-modafxers"

6. clinton's purchase was small time compared to what was already happening....*&^% man the fixed up the "almighty apollo du theatre".....

7. by the way there are still a lot of former tennants still living in those "fixed up" areas...so they ain't being completly pushed out...and *&^%...old timers liked going to the park...so it's a kind of double edged sword  "that change and time dictate"

one of the general subjects refers to checking "the boxes" re: race on an application form...

he say: is it an advantage or a disadvantage?

and panther man gave a good answer whom i agree with on the value.

over the years i have collected some apps. with some pretty interesting boxes...anybody care???

i say get rid of the little boxes...think outside the box???

they are, if you look back, even a little in time so "small-time" and scatterbrained.

anybody else have thoughts on this???

try to put the outlandish escapade behind you....

once i got on the subway around 1am...number 4 train and i sit...across from me are about 8 japanese tourists with suitcases in front of them like an unintentional  wall...and staring "deer in headlights" slightly to my right...i figure...aym a newyker i dont get easily razzed...but these tourists just kept looking and looking and staring...and heavy,,,drowning...we're talking deafining silence.

and i had to go from midtown to da bronx...so @#!* it.... i look to my right

there is this dude looking like willie nelson...smellin like rottin *&^%...legs dangling down and twirling his feet like a three yr old... staring directly at me...he had been lookin at me for twenty minutes...at least..since i got on...

bear assed naked and sooo dirty and wierd...the tourists then look at me...f-ing terrified....i look at them...i look back at the guy and he yells "i'm crazy now"...I AM CRAZY NOW.....

i could do nothing but laugh...he got off the very next stop and i
calmly said to the japanese tourists.

"don't worry folks i think he was just a tourist"

i think my humor was lost in the translation
oh well.

was that okay that i added my two cents?

yes

thankyou...

that sounds like quite something to witness...in nyc i've seen my share of hm, hm, exposed unsolicited body parts...*&^%-nasty-biz.

seriously though,

hopefully the lass was not really being forced into what she was doing...i mean
she wasn't in distress??? could you tell from your vANTAGE POINT...
CALL CAMPUS SECURITY...

otherwise thats some funny *&^%

that's just the thing i'm in BK. nyc is crazy as hell

@#!* the campus security...
don't call the police...
maybe she's a working girl???  or guy???

nyc is crazy as hell...nothing...nyc is jacked-f-ing-up!

7918
OK this is really crazy but I HAVE to tell ya this. I live with 3 other women so sometimes when I'm on the phone I'll go outside to have convos. Well I just went out and RIGHT IN FRONT of my building was this SUV. and of course there's hella street lights on my block. Don't u know I just saw this girl giving this guy head. NASTY. Why did it have to be right in front of MY bldg though? And it's not like they were trying to be discreet or anything, there's street lights LINING my block. I mean at first I wasn't exactly sure what was going on. But her head kept bobbin up and down and I was like  :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o
So dude looks over at me and I figure he'll see me and they'll bounce. Nope. Then he starts pushing her head even harder. I swear that girl looked like she was giving head to save her life. So now I'm back in my room and dude I'm on the phone wit is laughing his ass off. I wish someone else was here to see this *&^%.

and by the way i don't think you're an instigator...i think you're a "keep-the-ball rollinator"

and maybe a little demon advocator...and that's the way to fly....bend the issues..like rubbah.

Wanna hear some irony?  ;)

Most people are full of *&^%.  :o

Don't act surprised.

Everyone preaches about how great they are and how much they deserve a good man/woman.

The reality of the situation is you are what you attract.

There are some black men who talk the talk and don't walk the walk. There would be some dogs right under our noses and we wouldn't even know it.

There are some black women with skeletons in their closet (reformed hoes is what I like to call them). Some of them do not deserve a good man and should never reproduce.

Think back in your dating history. Are you thinking? Excellent. Men,  how many women have you screwed over or used solely for your own sexual gratification? How many hearts have you broken b/c your male private part got the best of you?  How can you say you are a good man who respects women, when you've used them as @#!* tools?

Women, how many good guys have you used knowing that he had feelings for you? You never had any intentions of dating him, but keep the naive idiot around for your own personal entertainment? How many good guys have you passed up for that trifflin n-word down the street with a body like a God, but treats you like dog *&^%? Why is it that you complain about not having a good man, when you mess with nothing but hot garbage?

The point is that we are all hypocrites and will never be satisfied. Even with my "list" there will always been something about my mate that I will want to change. Human beings are always striving for perfection; which is an impossible task
Preach on, sister.  You are SO right.

Been there done that.  Had the body of a god guy -- dude turned out to be a drug dealer.  Took him over the opportunity to be with a wonderful, sensitive and respectful man.

Women need to rethink what they are subjecting themselves to before they start to question everybody else.  You make your own dating choices, so be ready to take responsibility for them.

this is the old: "men are dogs and women don't know what they want."

generally speaking it's truth but not fact.

there are always exceptions to the "pseudo-rule"

not at all.  only some men are dogs and some mislead women choose to date them.  i think the point regal is trying to make is that we have choices and that we don't have to date dogs.  and if we choose to anyways, it says something about us as women.  (read: insecurity, immaturity, materialism, etc.)

no, no.  "there are always exceptions to the "pseudo-rule"...only "some" men are dogs and only "some" women choose to string men along...and "some" women are not sure what they want.

there is truth in that many times we are hypocrites...men are dogs and women don't know what they want.

but the fact is we are creatures of the human condition...like the lass said striving for unattainable task.

again, though there all always exceptions and choices are in that.
