Neither are as well regarded in the Chicago region, as far as I know. Between Northwestern and The University of Chicago, anything but Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc.can be overshadowed and therefore aren't as widely known rep wise. Maybe such isn't the case for others in the Chi area, but as for me, I don't have much to go on except the US News World Report rankings.

Last year, I had my transcript to LSAC by February, and the last of my 3 LORs in by August.  I was pretty much cruising in October/November while LSAC was busy losing everyone else's stuff.  Get those 2 things done as early as you can.
