1.  Anyone feel they have a good lead-in to an addendum?

2.  I am including addenda for both my early college GPA, and a minor traffic-related arrest.  Should this all be included in one addendum or a separate page for each?

Law School Admissions / LOUISIANA, Y'ALL! WHERE Y'AT?
« on: October 17, 2004, 10:26:46 AM »
Are you from the "Gret Stet of Looziana?"  Do you know who originated that tag-line?  Do you attend: LSU, Tulane, Loyola, La Tech, ULL or "Slow Learners University"?  Do you know what Huey P.Long's middle name is? Do you live in a parish?  Have you ever loved the French Quarter in the daytime but hated it at night?  Do you suck the heads?  Do you know what gumbo file is?  Do you know where the longest bridge in the world is?  Have you ever ended up a bachelor party at Rick's?  Are you my sunshine?  Does the word "Bunkie" make you laugh?  Do you know the difference between crawfish etouffee and crawfish creole? Do you know who "Archie Who" is? Have you ever said, "Who Dat" or "Cha-Ching?"  Have you ever eaten at The Trolley Stop or Camelia Grill at 6 a.m.?  Do you throw the bad beads back?  Are you familiar with the Chinese Bandits, "The Earthquake Game", or "Bring Back the Magic?".  Did you take a fieldtrip in elementary school ("grammar school" if you are from New Orleans) to the Tabasco factory at Avery Island? Have you ever referred to Alexandria as "Alek"?  Have you ever gambled on a riverboat?  Do you know how to pronounce the word "Geaux"?  Are you tall enough to reach the bar?  Do you hate anyone with the last name "Booty"?  Dou you know what Zydeco is?  Do you know what day Endymion runs or who was the Grand Marshall?  Have you ever "made groceries"?  Do you refuse to use your blinker when changing lanes?  Do the words "new bridge" and "old bridge" mean anything to you?  Have you never paid a property tax?  Have you legally been fired without having been given a reason?  Have you donated a Christmas tree to save the coastline?  Do  you remember Hurricane Andrew? Do you have a cousin that used to work offshore?  Did you ever get a coconut at Zulu?  Do you know what day Endymion rolls?  Does "Bacchus" sound more like a parade than a god?  Have you ever proudly boasted, "At least we're not Mississippi!"? Do you have a fishing camp?  Have you ever been tubing?  Do you drink Abita or Dixie beer?  Barq's root beer?  Do you eat muffallatas, jambalaya, andouille, crawfish, poboys, red beans and rice, oysters, boudin, cous cous, hog's head cheese, bananas foster and bread pudding.  Do you consider alligator to be food?  Can you pronounce the names: Prejean, Melancon, Savoie, Guidry, Patin, Gaudet, Fontenot, Comeaux, and Arcement?  Do you know an Aggie joke or a "Boudreaux and Thibodeaux" joke?  Do you think Algiers is in Jefferson Parish?  Have you ever seen a cockroach fly?  Do you know what gets dumped into a 10-gallon pot with artichokes, corn, potatoes, garlic cloves, lemons, mushrooms, sausage, and celery?  Do you hate when Baton Rouge and New Orleans are referred to as "Cajun" or "on the Bayou"?  Do your State politics make national news?  Are you from Sportsman's Paradise?  Are you from Louisiana, go to school in Louisiana, or plan on going to school in Louisiana?

General Off-Topic Board / The ego-stroking poll

...Oh yes I did!

I am interested in reading over personal statements just to consider different approaches to take as I'm writing my own.  So if you really want someone to read it, I would be happy to.  I'm NOT pretending to provide expert analysis but you know, if you really just want to try it on a second pair of eyes... I will let you know if I see any glaring mistakes, but I am mainly looking for creative inspiration for mine.
just kidding  :D
(title it:PERSONAL STATEMENT in all caps so I won't delete it as Spam!)

Law School Admissions / Addendum format?

Plenty of Personal Statement info available, but does anyone know of a website that gives examples of addenda?  I'm a little shaky on the format.

Law School Admissions / Practicing in the Same State or Out-of-State?
« on: October 14, 2004, 09:25:14 AM »
Are LS adcomms receptive to the fact that you plan on practicing in that state?  Don't schools want to keep graduates in state, especially schools that receive state funding? Just wondering if I should include something like that in my PS or if it would just be a waste of space.

Also, how do job placement, career services work at law school?  If I did not want to practice in the same state as the school, would I basically be scrapping the advantages of those services?  Do they help to network and place out of state as well?

Law School Admissions / A couple of questions about grades...
« on: October 11, 2004, 11:17:42 PM »
First, I actually repeated a class where I "passed" with a 'D'.  Second time got an 'A'.  I'm pretty sure my school fully counts both grades as if they were 2 separate classes as far as GPA is concerned.  Same thing with LSDAS?

Also, how can I make my grades for this fall relevant if I am sending apps in early November?  Will the adcomms' decisions have already been made (rolling)?  Would I have to wait until the grades come out to send the applications?  Do I need to document somewhere that I plan on reporting them when I get them?
