Law School Admissions / Re: REJECTED, ETC. TODAY
« on: February 18, 2009, 11:35:26 AM »
Out at Georgetown via mail after a deferral in December. I'm really very disappointed.

Sorry, I know the feeling.  It'll get better.

from urbandictionary, pants:  "rubbish, no good, bag of sh!te"

This is a new one on me.

Rutgers-Camden!  With 10k Scholarship (based upon maintaining a 3.5 GPA ... which is pants).

Congrats despite your odd usage of "pants."

That's fair. Do you think that my offers will be rescinded? I never meant for this to happen. I wasnt trying to be deceitful. He would have signed and wrote it but I couldnt wait. Of course I didnt want to get caught but I dont know what to do at this point.

Your offers could be rescinded and probably should be at this point.

What you may want to do is ask your boss if he would first actually write a letter of recommendation for you to have it on file with then LSAC. Then have him call the schools you've been accepted at to clear up the situation if he's willing and if they're willing to listen.

On my Online Status, it says that my current status: Decision Letter has a been sent....
Does that mean the decision is sent and it could be accepted or denied... is denied so they are just not telling me on the online status page?

I think Minnesota calls accepted applicants. Some schools take a couple of days to call, so I'm not sure if the fact you've yet to receive a call indicates a straight up denial.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: 166: To Retake or Not to Retake
« on: February 15, 2009, 08:45:09 AM »
I would NOT retake it if I were you.

I took it in June 2008 and scored a 179.  Seriously.  And I was all bummed out because I missed that final point.  So, like a numbskull, I retook it.  And when I retook it I got another 179 on the dot.

For me it was a huge waste of time to re-study and put my life on hold when the score didn't change a bit.

If I were you I'd bag it.

Come on...who on retake any score in the 170s unless they are a crazy splitter?

bt retook a 170 because he wanted NYU.  Went up to a 174 and got in.

Apparently the University of Alabama allows you to petition in your second semester according to a 3L I spoke to who did it.

It's on your LSDAS report that is sent to schools when you apply.

It basically lists only the administration date and a "/" where the score would normally be.

It's been 65-70 and clear all week.  Not bad for the end of January.

Student culture is awesome and is the best part of the school.  It's not only not competitive, other students just emailed their notes around.  I studied with lots of people, traded notes, whatever.  I never had any problems meeting people.  When I missed a review session the week before finals I got a recorded copy of it.  UT is really good about organizing student events, bar reviews, booze cruises, section intramural teams, etc.  Especially the first semester.

Gingerman downtown is a personal favorite.  Crown and Anchor is a veritable dumping ground for law students after class, and sometimes between them.

Gingerman is the cat's pajamas.  The one in Dallas is greatness too.

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Feb Results
« on: February 07, 2009, 02:15:37 PM »
My February results last year came on the 22nd.  For the Feb takers, the 27th is about the same time frame.

I took a Clif's bar to one and a Kashi bar to another.
