Tulane requires a 3.0 (at least they did on my offer), which is apparently the 50% mark. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see this as a catch.

I must've deleted the line saying I'm not. ![]() Seriously, it wasn't even a hard call. When you see financial firms imploding left and right, and when August brings news of a housing collapse, and when Bernanke is strongarming companies to buy each other out to avert a "confidence-shaking" bankruptcy . . . these are what we in the psychic-hotline business call "clues". 6
General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: anyone used an Asus eeePC?« on: April 22, 2008, 07:20:54 PM »
I have an Eee. I would NOT repeat NOT repeat NOT consider it as a laptop for note-taking or, even worse, exam-taking. It's a great little gadget, but the tiny and poor-quality keyboard means that you will have to carry a separate USB keyboard around for any real work. The built-in keyboard is simply too small to type on, and the keys don't respond very well (i.e., you press a key, nothing happens. You push it hard, and the computer gets the idea that you really, really meant to type something, and puts in two characters.)
The other problem is that the extremely tiny screen (800x480) is simply too small for most needs. They are coming out with a larger version (nine inch screen, I think it's 1024x600) which MIGHT address these issues, since the keyboard will also be larger. Even so, if the keyboard is as of poor a quality as on the 701 models, you still might need to carry a separate real keyboard around. 7

Thanks, folks. I sent her the thread URL.
BTW, not sure how that off-topic post got inserted at the very top of the thread that I started. Weird stuff. 8

Biopsies punch little holes in your brain, you know. ![]() Go do some reading on, e.g., how to determine the RIGHT antidepressant to prescribe. Hint: there are currently no tests available for doing it -- it's all random "take these pills for two months and if you feel better (and don't go batshit crazy), we'll stick with that" trials. This is, simply, because there isn't any way to look at the neurotransmitter levels in a living, functioning brain. If you're dead on a slab, they can run whatever tests they want on the dying/dead tissue, but of course that still doesn't tell them anything about what the chemistry was like when you were up and running. . . . 9
