2L job search / Got a Business card, Advice Appreciated.
« on: September 27, 2009, 04:15:27 PM »
So I gave a speech at a scholarship dinner, and afterwards one of the attendee's came up to me and asked me questions. He was really interested in the topics I discussed in my speech and gave me his business card (without me asking him). He is a partner at a V100 firm.

My question is how do I proceed and ask him if there is anything available in terms of employment for this summer. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Oh and I am at a T20 school, good GPA. Thanks.

Hey everyone.

I applied to GULC EA and got deferred. My school was late with grades, so they sent me an email around the 15th telling me to send out my grades. I did just as well this semester (3.7 overall, school it 60-70's).

The status checker just changed to decision, and I am able to access the admitted students website at this time. I am taking that as a sign I got in, but I want to get everyone's perspective, do you think I got in. Status checker changed to decision on the 26th of June. I have not gotten any other emails however.

If these questions seem silly, the reason I want other people's input is because I am halfway around the world overseas until August 2nd. Please give me feedback, I appreciate it a lot, good luck to all.

Transferring / Anyone here apply to BC Early Action?
« on: March 25, 2009, 05:46:39 PM »
All the talk has been about GULC early action transfers, but has anyone applied to BC's early action transfer program.

The yahoo transfer apps site also doesn't talk about BC early action.

I applied, did anyone else, past or present?

Did you submit your second semester senior year grades to the lsac/lsdas.

I am planning on sending out some transfer applications, is this necessary to do.

Anyone who did or didn't please write yes or no, clarity on this issue would be greatly appreciated. :) :) :)

Transferring / Stupid Question...
« on: February 19, 2009, 02:58:11 PM »
Hey everyone I am applying to GULC(ea) and my question is about the lsdas report and whether or not we need to send it in.

Here is my question. The last time I sent in anything to the LSAC or LSDAS was when I was done with my fall semester in my senior year of undergrad. Do I need to go and submit my final year college grades to the LSAC from my prior school?

For example, I applied to law school after the fall of my senior year, and I had 108 credits at that point (120 to graduate), i never sent in the senior semester grades to lsac.(I had no need to)

Since I am applying now as a transfer student, Do i have to do this? My undergrad is notoriously slow, it will take them 10 days to send out the transcript let alone the processing time of the LSAC. I also don't want to send out my 2nd semester senior year grades to the lsac because i slacked off my 2nd semester senior year and it will bring my 3.14 gpa down lower (a little lower). Let me know what you think.

Transferring / Would really appreciate everyone's input on this...

Hey everyone. I recently finished my first semester at a T2 school
ranked in the 60's.

I finished the first semester with a 3.71, my school's curve is a 3.2. Rankings are not out yet, but I believe a 3.7 should be
right around top 10%.

My question that I would like help with is what do you think my odds
are at GULC and BC early action? I don't have anything special soft
factors, I am in the midst of applying now, just wanted to know
everyone's input on what my chances are. If any of you have applied to
either of these school's early action, your input would be appreciated
even more. Thanks in advance.

Also, I checked out the transfer apps yahoo group page, which has good info, but I would like to see some of your responses. Thanks

I was admitted with a scholarship to Seton Hall. In order to keep the scholarship, I have to keep a 3.3 GPA, which on their curve is a B+ (their grades go all the way up to a A+ which I believe is a 4.3). I know many of you don't go to Seton hall but basically how hard is it to keep a B+ average in law school, what type of work is involved and basically what have your experiences been, thanks!

General Board / Would really appreciate help, I messed up
« on: May 13, 2008, 04:01:26 AM »
Hey Everyone, I would like people's feedback on my sitaution, especially if this has happened to you or someone you know.

I am in my last year of college and all about ready to be done. I already into law school and sent my seat deposit for full time in the fall. I'm pretty sure, that I failed one class, however, and I will need to take 1 or 2 during the summer. I would be done by august 13th at the latest. Two questions:

How unsual is this to happen, and does it affect my placement and scholarship at my law school.

Should I tell my law school what happened? I am not sure when I need to send final undergrad transcripts does anyone know? Anyone who has been in a similar situation please help, yes I was an idiot but senioritis was hard and now i'll pay for it during the summer.

My classes start August 21st. On one hand I want to tell them on the other hand I think, there really isn't a requirment that I finish by May, but I don't know, people give me some feedback/advice, yes I know I should've done better, what can I say.

Where should I go next fall? / Question about Curve in law school
« on: April 06, 2008, 12:03:52 PM »
Hi everyone.

Different school's have different stipulations with their scholarship offers. St. John's is top 50%, where as Seton Hall is a 3.2 or higher.

Someone once said that a 3.2 was the curve at Seton Hall, could someone explain what this means and what that would translate to in terms of class percentage, thanks.
