You guys are worrying too much, in my opinion. Despite the constant "tug-o-war" amongst posters, it seems that SMU, UH, and Tulane are damn near identical in Texas placement, taking into account self-selection.
I would, however, imagine that proximity would assist Tulane in Houston more so than in Dallas. marc 27
Law School Applications / Re: Waitlist LOCI: E-mail or snail mail, which is better?« on: April 14, 2008, 03:32:26 PM »
e-mail is considerably more convenient and efficient than snail mail and I do not believe that this convenience is lost on admissions departments. If it is easier for the sender, it is likely easier for the receiver as well. just my opinion

I would guess that it's because they are the only law school located in the entire western half of Texas. A graduate of TTU would be more likely to take an offer throughout west Texas than would a graduate of SMU, Baylor, or UH (likely more focused on positions in Dallas, Houston, Austin, etc..) The average first year income of a TTU graduate is, however, lower than these other schools which could be explained by them taking lower paying positions throughout the area (which would likely include El Paso, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, Amarillo, Abilene) This is all just a wild guess, btw. 30

In fact, I'm in essentially the same boat, just with different schools.
I'm in at SMU and I'd be absolutely happy to go there. I even had a very well paying job lined up so that I could move to Dallas three months early. Two weeks ago, I was all set to simply withdraw my other apps to my "reaches", but in the end I decided that it was definitely worth it to wait out my other decisions. SMU may win out in the end anyway, since not only do I love Dallas, but my two best friends in the world live there. However, I felt I'd be cheating myself if I didn't wait and give myself the opportunity to weigh out all of my options. |
