Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: What's the deal with FIU?

Law school is a VERY serious, and life changing investment. Go to the absoluate best school you are able to get into. Pass off any T3/T4...

Are there close minded liberals too?

That's an oxymoron.

Matthew, good luck with your decision.

Like gay conservatives?  We do exist, you know.

I still haven't figured that one out.

I happen to like guys and small government.  I don't see the contradiction.

I never said there was a "contradiction." To some it may be, to some it might not. But there is no need to harp on this, as it has nothing to do with this thread.

Sorry if it sounded snappy, I get ragged on for this a lot.

It's cool. I understand.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: Your Son Or Daughter In 20 Years
« on: April 23, 2008, 10:59:07 PM »
In 20 years, your son or daughter comes to you and tells you that he/she are planning on attending law school. Unfortunately, your child only scored a 150 on the LSAT and was only able to get into T3/T4 schools. Would you tell your child to go to law school, do you believe it would be worth the investment for him/her to go to law school, knowing ahead of time that job prospects will be dismal upon graduation?
By then maybe the ABA would of realized there are too many law school and stripped the T3/T4's of their accreditation....

Studying for the LSAT / Re: Prep Courses
« on: April 15, 2008, 09:14:34 AM »
So I am considering taking a prep course through either Kaplan, Princeton Review, or Powerscore and am trying to justify spending a grand or so. I was wondering if any of you have taken these courses or anything similar, and if so, felt that they helped you significantly. Any input would be greatly appreciated. My last practice test score was a 157. and I plan on taking the LSAT in October.

Thanks :)

I've been wondering the same thing, except I plan on taking the LSAT in Feb. I am not very good with doing the entire prep thing alone. I feel like it would be to my advantage to have an expert help me learn all of the strategies for the test. My goal is to get a 170+. Between Powerscore, Princeton Review, and Kaplan, how has peoples experiences been with those classes? And are they worth the money?

I was pleased to see 4 Richmond VA firms on the list of the 250 (and a 5th firm principally based in Atlanta with a large office here).  Also, knowing that URichmond Law has an extensive and loyal alumni base is making UR look much better -- especially if I get some money from them.

Plus, the Richmond Times-Dispatch ran this article recently. http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/search.apx.-content-articles-RTD-2008-03-31-0026.html

I may well have a W & M (with no $) v. UR (with $) dilemma on my hands.

Richmond is a very good T2 to consider. It's often overlooked on this board though. But the city of Richmond itself is normally overlooked...
