Santa Clara is also a school that I am going to apply to. Good school. I am from that area so it is kind of one of my backups too.

good to hear.  i've never actually been to california before, but that school looks nice and it seems like they focus heavily on ip law.  i'm going to be visiting there in a couple weeks and i can't wait!

My step-mom did her undergrad there and I know she loved it. It is a pretty big sports school (She went to school with Brent Jones tight end for SanFran) and the people seem nice. Also, girls in California are gorgeous :) Good luck with your visit and stop by a In and Out Burger.

For me English is fun and, while its still challenging, it is my major and I tend to pull mostly A's and B's. However I hear you on this. I messed around my first few years so that doesnt count... but now I do pretty well. There was one class that no matter how hard I tried I pulled nothing but B's and B+'s. The really baffeling part was that I had already had advanced classes in this department which I go A's in, Sociology, and this was an intro class. If that wasnt enough my roomate's dad was the department head. I ended up with a B+ and was so pissed.

Anyhow... I think everyone has those types of classes. The ones who dont are from other planets. My vote is that moon around Saturn they just took photos of.

Law School Admissions / Re: Introduction, I am new to the board

That was awesome. You have found out the truth about me.

I believe that schools check and see if you are the relative of an alumni AND also see how much money your family makes AND how much money they donate in addition to measuring your scholastic potential. I'd be suprised if diesel doesn't have some kind of connection at the university, or had pops make a donation.  :o

He did say his father is an alumni. Perhaps this was an in for him?

After reading the whole thread I see this guy is full of *&^%.

Law School Admissions / Introduction, I am new to the board
« on: July 24, 2004, 08:39:46 PM »
So I just registered today and thought I would introduce myself seeing as how, after browsing the board for 2 hours, I believe I will be a regular.

My name is Jason and I am a 23 year old senior English Literature major at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. My hobbies include music, both listening and making, reading, watching movies (film minor), consuming alchohol ;) and other typical college student activities.

I have long entertained the idea of becoming a lawyer. Only recently did I make a solid decision that this is what I would pursue. I found this site looking for information on how to better prepare myself for the LSAT. Upon completing my undergrad I should be graduating with about a 3.15. This is no real reflection of my inteligence, just the effort I put forth. My first 3 years in college were spent partying, dropping classes, etc. Now I pull all A's and B's :) I am being honest here as I have found the rest of you seem to do so as well. Besides, I have nothing to hide. Except... the dead bodies in the basement.

Anyhow, I plan on taking my LSAT sometime this year and attending a nice law school. I would like to think I will get into a Tier-1 school but I dont know. It may be Tier-2... may even be Cooley, lol.

Anyhow, I look forward on learning more about this whole law school process with you all.

I would pretty much rate Harvard as near impossible to get into regardless of what your numbers are. I am sure they have denied many candidates that were better qualified than many they have accepted. The combination of high numbers, impressive PS, etc. will be what gets you in. Even so, its pretty much near impossible.

By the way, my name is Jason and this is my first post.
