Current Law Students / Re: Attention anyone looking to buy a laptop
« on: July 19, 2004, 10:47:48 AM »
I too just bought a laptop from Dell.  I went to

They basically tell you how to get the best deal from dell.  It takes you to Dell's own site and you just customize the laptop to your specifications and then use whatever coupons are available at the time.  I bought mine on Friday and used a coupon for $100 off.  Today that same exact computer came with a coupon for 10% basically I paid $41 more on Friday than I would have today had I bought it.

It really depends on when you catch the deal, but edealinfo puts together the best deals...let's you know which coupons are valid for the particular deal!!!

Good luck!!!

Thanks so much for the info!

New York Law School / Laptop requirements

So I just read the packet of info that came in the mail and in the part about laptops, I read that the school recommends a floppy drive.  I was surprised because I was planning on using a cdrom drive, just because its hard to use floppy drives in laptops.  So I called the school to ask what we need a floppy drive for and the response was if you need to print something off the computers in the computer labs, then you need a floppy.  The person I spoke to on the phone was actually a 1L (she just finished her first year) and she said she didnt have a floppy drive and didn't actually need one.

I don't know if this information is useful to anyone, but I'm actually shopping around for a laptop and I needed to know if I need a floppy drive or not :)

THANKS!!!  I'm very anxious to know my schedule, so I can figure out how I'm going to commute (which train, etc), so at least I know that I have a few more weeks until I find out.  I appreciate the heads up!

Thanks for the info.  I'm glad that it is going to work out with your schedule.  Did he give any indication when we should expect to get our schedules?  I know someone in Admissions said July...but nothing specific.

I'm sure they wouldn't be that inconsiderate to do it during the semester.  I'm hoping it happens during the summer because break inbetween semesters is NOT enough time!!!  So I'm not going to worry about it until I have too, besides Wall Street is definitely nice too :)

That is very useful information, I appreciate it.  I had a difficult time dealing with my going to a third tier school, rather than a second, just because I've heard over and over again that the higher ranked a school is, the better.  I love that NYLS is in NYC and it seems to have such a great overall environment, I know I will be happy there, but its nice to be reassured every once in awhile  ;)

Do you mind if I ask why you chose New York Law over Hofstra?

So if they have a location on Wall Street, do they have a date?  And is it going to interfere with us being in school?

How could they make all of these changes without being upfront with us, so that we could properly make decision?!!?!?  I'm sorry that this negatively affects the decisions you have made :(

I just talked to NYLS and they are looking to move in 2006 somewhere near Wall Street, they don't have a location yet.
