Denials / Michigan
« on: January 16, 2005, 01:16:21 AM »
Has anyone received a big ding yet from UofMichigan?  Or do they wait to send those out last? I guess I'm just wondering why I havn't heard anything...ding or no ding...waiting sucks.

I called them last week and the person who answered the phone said my ap was still in review.  I guess if it was denied, it's not like she would have told me over the phone...or is it really still in review?  My mind is starting to get the best of me.........

Where should I go next fall? / 145 LSAT, 3.90 GPA - What now?
« on: October 30, 2004, 03:42:28 PM »
I basically bombed the LSAT.  But I do not plan to retake it. I'm just not a very good test taker, plain and simple. Anyone have any advice?

Hi,

I know that there are people here that do not agree with "using" ethnic minority status to get into law school. Personally, I am not "using" my minority status to get into law school, it is a basic make-up of who I am. I can't escape or avoid it.

So if there is anyone out there who is sincerely willing to read a personal statement that contains much reference to being a minority, an immigrant, first-gen college grad and aspiring law student...please send me your email. I just need some input, any input on grammar or sentence structure, and maybe some content.

Thanks,
Theresa

Recommendations / how many is too many?
« on: October 14, 2004, 09:46:06 PM »
How many letters can we submit to LSAC?  I read somewhere it's 3.  I don't really care what letter goes to who, I want all 4 to go to every school I apply to.  Will this be a problem?  Does anyone know for sure if there is a 3 letter limit....this just sounds ridiculous to be true.

*thanks*

Yes, there was one about the amount of money politicans spend on campaigns.  About how in a democratic election on candidate should not have an unfair advantage.

I put the answer that there should be an upper cap on the amount of money spent on a campaign.

Yaye!  I put the same thing! woohoo...that's 1 correct so far I guess....*hopeful*

LSAC and LSDAS / in your academic summary report...
« on: October 02, 2004, 07:45:51 PM »
In the "Degree School" section, I have ALL 0 for the percetage distribution of LSAT.  Everything else is filled out correctly with my GPA from undergrad.

Does this mean nobody from my undergrad might have ever taken the LSAT?  I just took it today so....that would make me the only person?

I guess this may make some sense since my school just opened up in 1994, and I don't expect many ppl applying to law school. But I wasn't sure if this was the case.  Does your academic summary report have actual percentages in this section?

*confused*

Thanks,
Theresa

LSAC and LSDAS / Admission Index Information Sheet
« on: October 02, 2004, 07:39:51 PM »
I just noticed this new attachment in my LSAC account.  What is this neat little pdf file? It looks like it has some valuable information but I'm not sure how to read it. What are the 3 category GPA's?  What are all those numbers?

Where should I go next fall? / Re: USD scholarship recipients
« on: August 25, 2004, 11:46:32 AM »
Wow, all of the USD-ers in here, and no response?  I'd like to know this, please respond if you are a scholarship recipient. It would be helpful to get your stats as well.

Thank you!
USD - Fall 2005 (HOPEFULLY!)

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Re: Are you going to USD?
« on: August 25, 2004, 08:58:52 AM »
my 2 cents.

3.4 GPA from a bad CSU and a 167 LSAT = 23k scholarship.
i too agree that LSAT is everything @ USD.  Teresa even if you gaet a 155 I doubt u would get a scholarship, but if you did it would be small.  Just my opinion so don't bit my head off.

Don't worry, I don't plan to bite your head off.

Couple questions, you got a 3.4 gpa from a bad CSU?  Which one?  I went to CSU Monterey Bay and got a 3.9 gpa. Taking the LSATs in Oct, who's to say what I'll get. But you're saying even if I get a 155 you doubt I'll get a scholarship, at most if at all, a very small one?  I have a higher gpa than you, and I'm also from a "bad" (though my school I wouldn't call bad at all, it's very new, so there's nothing to base their reputation on YET) CSU, if I were to get somewhat of a similar LSAT score, who's to say I won't get as much or more scholarship money than what you got?  Just trying to clarify....

Also, wouldn't 23k just about cover your first year tuition?  I'd be happy to get 23k....
