Brain Age - any word from UH on your part. Status checker updated yesterday and I am still "in review". Baylor sent me an email on Thurs. saying they are mailing my registration packet which is due by April 18th.  UH is cutting the timeline way too short!!

I am still "in review" as of 3/31 and I applied Jan 10th for Part-time. I have not received a decision. Their PT classes start in 2 months on 6/2 and that doesn't even include orientation, etc. How much "advance" notice do they plan on giving their PT applicants!! I got accepted to Baylor which starts 5/12. They sent me an email saying my registration packet is due by April 18th. UH is my first choice and it is killing me to wait.

Any one else a PT applicant??

I also feel everyone's pain. I submitted by app Jan 10. I have been accepted to Baylor with 1/2 tuition, but UH part-time is my first choice. My last day of work is April 15th and Baylor 1st day of orientation is May 7th. I am getting down to the wire and trying not to feel anxious.

Anyone know how accurate their online status checker is? I called the adm office and some lady said they could not give "statuses" over the phone. I thought it was only "decisions" over the phone. Anyone else calling the admin office for statuses??

Hi. I am from TX and plan to stay in TX. Baylor is a great law school. That is where I am headed unless I get into UH. I also received a half-tuition scholarship to Baylor. The thing about Baylor is that it is geared toward litigation and 65% of their curriculum is set for you, so you don't have the luxury of just taking any class you want your 2L and 3L like other schools. as a 3L, you have a required 6-month practice court. Baylor is known for producing great litigators. If you definitely do not want to do litigation and the thought of taking litigation courses turns your stomach, then Baylor may not be for you. I unfortunately do not want to litigate, but I would suck it up since they are the 2nd best choice for me in TX. UH is the first. Penn State and Miami would have a hard time placing in TX. With 8 law schools, TX is pretty loyal to their own. Hope this helps.

Texas Tech. The I had less than 1 week from the time I received the letter to send my deposit. I read the letter, put it down and when I picked it up again to see where I should send the deposit, the deadline was that day. I think I am over it now. It was more of my chicken-out school (and they offered me half-tuition, which would make law school $6K/yr, so it is really cheap), and it worried me because I have already sent withdrawals to some other schools. But I think I am okay now. I am heading to Baylor unless I get into UH, which I am still waiting on....

Just wondering what happens if you miss a seat deposit deadline . I missed one for my third choice school. My acceptance letter w/deadline came over the holiday when I was on vacation and I read the letter on Monday (the same day as deadline). How "final" is that deadline? Should I call today 3/25 and let them know. Would 3/26 be too late to call?? Anyone had the same situation?

Hi Brain Age.

So sorry to hear that. I know you have a tough decision to make with Baylor starting in May. I have not heard from UH either, but I applied PT, so they said they are trying to have those decisions mailed by early April. Got a call from TX Tech yesterday with 1/2 tuition scholarship. But I think I am leaning towards Baylor still. UH is my first choice, just waiting on a response.

What are you going to do?

What state are you from and where do you want to practice?

Brain Age...

Thank you for your comments. Seems we are very much in the same boat. THANKS FOR THE EMAIL. I did not know about the open house, so I will reschedule to attend instead of the visitation day.

The 2.0 makes me feel a lot better, but still have not received my package. No word from UH (part-time) either.

I am still leaning toward UH for all the reasons you mentioned. But at least I know I am in at Baylor if I choose. I am in at South Texas, which has a very respectable reputation in Houston. I am also waiting on Texas Tech. I was filling out my FAFSA today and attempting to create some prospective budget, all the money makes me lean toward Tech if I get in because of the super low tuition - 14K - thats a steal.

Keep me posted on your UH decision and where you will be attending. Are you in during summer at Baylor? PT or FT at UH?

Choosing the Right Law School / UH Vs Baylor??

Got in at Baylor summer with 1/2 tuition. First choice was UH, but now I am considering Baylor bc of the money. I do not want to do litigation and am intimidated by Baylors rep on intensity, curve and litigation classes that are required. I am from Houston and went to UH undergrad. I am really torn bt the two. I am thinking about Employment/Labor Law, but am keeping my options open.

anyone else torn bt Baylor and UH.

Need advice!!
