Law School Applications / Re: REJECTED, ETC. TODAY
« on: February 08, 2008, 02:22:52 PM »
No news from ANYBODY since Sunday. I'm expecting all the bad stuff that's going around here fairly soon. A rejection at Harvard and Columbia, a waitlist at Chicago, etc.

But why in the world have I not heard a thing from Virginia and Berkeley? I've been complete long enough to have received some word.

And what's the deal with USC and UCLA?

I'm dying waiting for UVA. I've been complete since mid-October!!

I released my spots at NW and Vandy today; I hope one of you benefits.

saw an acceptance yesterday (166/3.9ish) that went complete in November.

So, turns out they are still accepting people....just not me :(

I'm right there with you, jdr. Sigh...  :-\

Law School Applications / Re: Michigan Summer Start?
« on: February 06, 2008, 02:49:28 PM »
I have been accepted to the summer start program, and I couldn't be more thrilled.  Like others have said, we will have the whole campus to ourselves, and Ann Arbor is beautiful in the summer.  We will be able to monopolize the time of the professors, act like we own the place for a while before the upperclassmen return, and possibly increase our chances at 1L summer jobs (not to mention graduating 5 months sooner and getting a permanent job).  Plus, we actually save a bit of money, because we have a semester at last year's prices instead of the higher rates in 3 years.

Did any of you who were accepted get the option to start in the fall, or did they make it clear your acceptance was only for the summer start?

I made it clear to them that I wanted to start in the summer.  I think they allow people to switch in limited situations, but it's more difficult now than ever before.

Me too.

I've been accepted to Mich's summer start and I'm really leaning towards it. I was sold for all the reasons utilitarianjac was, except the thing about the dual degree. Since I attended a small (<1,000) undergrad inst., starting with fewer students was the clincher.

I wrote the "Why Duke" essay. No word yet.

bump.

So do we think they're coming next week or later on in February? It's hard to figure it out using LSN because some people don't post their PT status. The qualifications for PT change occasionally, as well. If I get in, I've decided I'm going. Durham reminds me of the scene from EuroTrip when they live like kings in Eastern Europe for $1.83. It's $700 for an apartment that would cost $2000 in DC.

$2,000/month is a bit exaggerated. It is, of course, possible to spend that much, but I'd say the average monthly rent (for a 1 bedroom) is $1,200. I have a lovely 1 bedroom on Capitol Hill for about that. I sure am looking forward to a lower cost of living in Ann Arbor, C'ville or Durham!

Also bear in mind that there's a strong possibility that some of you guys will receive *substantial* $$ awards from NU.

I hope so! Any idea how they make those decisions?

i'm running a 10 mile race on the fourth, but i'm thinking of flying out that evening.  is that crazy?  i saw NU might give out some $$ to help with travel...if they do, i'm definitely in.

I won't be running a 10 mile race on the 4th, but the 5th is my 25th birthday. An ASD on my quarter-century birthday? I don't know...

i'll do it if you do it ;)

I'm in if what you say about them giving travel $ is true. I've never been to Chicago before. That would be a nice birthday present in itself, wouldn't it? Congrats again, LoveButton.
