Is her title "assistant professor"? That's totally fine - the normal progression for faculty in American academia is assistant professor to associate professor to professor.

Wow, what a great/horrible situation to be in. Basic questions to ask yourself:
1. Major city or college town? 2. Can you deal with really cold weather? 3. Have you been offered money by either/both? 4. Does being able to travel through the Northeast easily matter to you (family, friends, lover in the megalopolis)? That's all I can think of for now. 99
