Incoming 1Ls / Re: GWU Class of 2011 (or just thinking about it)

Since we're already on GW comunication, didn't you guys think it was a nice touch to put a handwritten note on the acceptance letter? If I wasn't so cynical it would have made me feel special.

It was. It def made me feel like they cared about what I actually wrote in my application.

I agree.  Even though I know everyone gets a note like that, it's still pretty wonderful of them to take the time to do that when they have so many applications (and even quite a few acceptances) to sift through.

Financial Aid / Re: Need Access form

Anyone else think this form is too invasive?
I thought I wanted to do criminal law, but now, my life's goal will be to put an end to this invasive and way too personal form.

OMG, invasive is exactly the word to describe it.  It's a horrible form.  Guessing my 2008 income was difficult, but not so bad compared to trying to remember things like how much financial aid I got as an undergrad - I friggin' graduated 5 years ago!

Law School Admissions / Re: Fee Waiver = Acceptance?

Michigan was careful to point out that while getting a fee waiver from them is usually a good sign - I think they said that 50% of fee waiver applicants get in - it is by no means a guarantee of acceptance.  As for other schools, who knows?

Law School Admissions / Re: FAFSA Processed, but no Notification Email?

Yes, there is a lag.  Got an email today (2/19) saying that my FAFSA has been processed.  Checked out the link, and it was processed on 2/15, so there does seem to be a lag.  If you're really worried, you can probably check your status on the FAFSA site.

Still no email.  Stewie: what time did the email come?

Actually, looks like it came on Monday (2/18) at about 2 in the afternoon.

I went online to check my FAFSA status and saw that it was processed sometime today.  However, I never got an email notification telling me that it's processed.  (My email is valid and I've gotten notifications every previous year that I did the FAFSA.)

So, does anyone know whether there's a lag between the time they process your FAFSA and when they send you the email?

Yeah, I'm still waiting to hear from 7 of my 10 schools, but I get a really good feeling about the place.  As miss lady twine said, however, money is a factor.

I had a crush on Henry Huggins  :-\

lol.  I know you did NOT just bring some Beverly Cleary up in here.

I LOVED Beverly Cleary.  A classmate wrote to her in 4th grade and got a response back, and the principal read it over the PA system.  I was so incredibly jealous.

I wanted to be Henry's best friend.  We'd deliver papers and play ball with Ribsy.  Have campouts in the backyard that involved a little friendly exploration...that sort of thing.

Yeah, Henry Huggins was totally cute.  Rough-and-tumble, but still a good guy with a sensitive heart.  And I totally agree with you on the backyard campouts.

i never knew she was a lesbian.

i always figured she was doing the hardy boys.

i mean come on: the HARDY boys?

Dude, they were super gay.  I used to get boners reading the descriptions of Frank and Joe's athletic bodies.
