Law School Admissions / Financial Aid questions
« on: January 24, 2008, 04:47:03 AM »
not merit scholarship, but the need-based, through FAFSA

how does it work? do these exist?
are law schools need-blind?

Incoming 1Ls / does Econ help with law school/biglaw?
« on: January 13, 2008, 02:30:41 AM »
Does having a background in economics help with

1) doing well in law school if my focus is on the corporate side
2) getting a biglaw job
3) succeeding in that said job
4) exit options

what do you think? i totally don't know, was just curious, am an english (creative writing) major

Law School Admissions / Re: Michigan Email
« on: January 11, 2008, 06:20:27 PM »
so there are a ton of ppl with decent numbers that haven't even gotten this email, right?
have people in the past received both this e-mail and the first round rejection letter?
my numbers are certainly not up to par with the others--3.1/170, so I had taken it as an email "alleviating concern", but an empty one at that, one that goes out, literally, to everyone.
but i guess this means i've survived first round?

Law School Admissions / ED at Penn, still NOTHING
« on: January 11, 2008, 06:08:17 PM »
no call, no email, no mail.
what's the deal here? i was complete, received the email saying i was complete for ED. said i'd have my decision by Dec 31, I have heard nothing.
not even the "held" email ppl are talking about

should I call? given that they give you the "contact us" link, instead of the email address, i'm venturing a guess that they don't like to be bothered, and I don't want to irritate them at all.

what's the story here, do you think? is anyone else still waiting after EDing?

Law School Admissions / BC reject, Fordham defer
« on: December 31, 2007, 03:06:04 AM »
ok. my numbers ain't great, but it was solidly in the middle of the "accepted" pack for BC and Fordham, according to LSN. and they ain't high enough for yield protect, either. clearly they hated something about me, the man, the personal statement

my numbers were solid waitlist material at GULC. but i got in, not even 3 weeks after going complete. with a note saying "exceptional background". clearly they loved something about me, the man, the personal statement

which  is driving me absolutely nuts. there is no way to predict how the hell my cycle is gonna turn out.

finally decision. i won't get my mail until mid jan.
but ain't many 3.3 indexes getting in =(

question, though:

does "Decision" refer to acceptances and denials? or does it include waitlists/deferrals as well?

i guess deferral > reject, in a practical sense (maybe not)

but my heart just wants to know. this is too draining.
