For what it's worth, I have some friends that went to American for law school, and they couldn't say enough about the school's emphasis on public interest. They even joked that the school's climate is a bit cold to those pursuing corporate law. These friends didn't focus on international law, so I can't say anything about that, but as an alum of AU undergrad, I can say DC offers opportunities that other cities just don't have.

congrats on the scholarship from au (and wustl). was the au award the public interest scholarship?

Ohio State has an election law program.

No financial aid email here. What did it say?

I'm curious what impressed you. As you mentioned, the school's literature is pretty lean, and the Web site needs a major upgrade. I'd like to make a visit, but I'm in Florida and not sure when I'll have the time off from work (and the money) to travel.

I'm definitely interested, provided I get some money.

Law School Applications / Re: Deferred at GULC

Just got waitlisted, and not even the "preferred" waiting list. Was deferred back in December. 168/3.59.

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Got my FAFSA Back - Is this good?

My EFC is more than $29k. I can assure you that's an absurd number based on my salary and my husband's (we're journalists). My problem with the FAFSA is that it doesn't account for where you live (i.e. cost of living) or whether you have things like car loans that might explain why you don't have more in savings.

"Deferred" should be another option. I interviewed 11/20, was deferred about three weeks later. I was told I'd have a decision by Feb. 15.

1. No
2. Still at "decision"

Did your letter say that you will hear back by Feb. 15?

Ditto. My letter said my decision would be mailed by Feb. 15. No word yet.

I'm in the same boat. If I'm not mistaken, I think I read somewhere that UL doesn't even start looking at apps until this month.
