Law School Admissions / Re: Tulane E-mail
« on: December 11, 2007, 11:27:12 AM »
I got an email last month that says they decide in the spring. Is this true?

I never received that e-mail either...it seems to me, however, that if they said that to you then it is true.  It is an awful start to law school when the admissions committee lies or misleads.

this is off topic but the OP is HOT :-)

Haha.  Thank you very much.

I keep seeing on here where the abundant T14 applicants are receiving decisions.  Almost all of the schools to which I have applied, which incidentally are not too much further down the totem pole, have just begun to review their applications.  Is there a a correlation here or are the schools to which I have applied just the odd-men out?

Law School Admissions / Re: Accepted TODAY !!

I don't mind, LSDAS GPA is 3.24 and my LSAT is below 150. The acceptance was more than a surprise to me, quite shocking in fact...but I'm assuming that being a URM probably helped me out and I have a lot of confidence in my personal statement and diversity statement.

They responded quite fast too, I applied on 11/27.

What kind of minority are you?  An alien?  I am shocked that they would admit such low numbers regardless of minority status.

Wow...harsh. But oh well.

I meant no offense.  That is impressive.  I just wanted to know a bit more about your soft factors...

Law School Admissions / Re: Early Decision - Pros & Cons

I doubt it would give you any more advantage than just applying at the beginning of the regular decision.  If you are an autoreject, you will still be rejected.  Law schools will still just waitlist you if you sit on the fence at all.  You also, as you said, are committed there even without the guarantee of an adequate financial aid package.  The only pro, and this is if it is truly your first choice and you know that you can pay for it, is that you will know of your decision very early in the application process (that is if they actually accept you!).

Unfortunately, the most recent congressional efforts to obtain legalized equal rights for gays/lesbians was tied to the funding bill for the Bush quagmire, Iraq.  Thus, its most ardent supporters felt no choice but to defeat it.

I would argue that he is more intelligent than the rest of the Republicans...his response to the education of immigrants question was very impressive.
