This is AWESOME! PBJT, what is your opinion of Xman? Could you two ever be friends in real life?

biglu, are you part of MAS? i'll engage you in earnest discussion tomorrow when we can get to know each other a bit better- even though you're a guy, i wouldn't mind sharing our views and stories here in the open forums.

tink, do you really want to know where i've applied? if it's just a facetious question meant to exacerbate me, i won't take the bait. i took the lsat in september, so if you care enough to find out more, ask

What are you doing that prevents you from sharing your views on the world right now?

^ IRRX, in every message board known to the internet, post count undoubtedly means something. when you guys stop accusing me of being a troll and begin accepting me as a legitimate contributor, my post count will garner the same respect i accord you and others (yes, i realize you've been starting from scratch but the post count you once held still confers respect on those with lower counts)

Xman there is no way I can begin accepting you as a legitimate contributor without an avatar and something providing insight into your personality in your sig. If you want us to consider you on the same level as us you need to upgrade your LSD persona and become one of the "cool kids." By the way, are you still working on your incomplete response to the questions I asked and comments I made earlier? I want to get to know you better, as I too value this LSD community.

biglu, i think smith would not consider society's well-being as dominant to personal achievement and happiness. i think this is the philosophy with which i approach my endeavors on this board

This response seems half-hearted and incomplete. Also, please keep us updated on your search for the perfect avatar - remember, you've tried to become a part of this community, and without a picture representing yourself or your personality, you come off as cold and distant.

i wish i had not read this.

Do you feel like he should be focused on you instead of a select few other MASers in the hours leading up to V-day?

i am nearly exactly like i am online in real life. except i look a little different.

i'm getting some sexually-consumed signals in the MAS thread from beesly and reese right now, in fact. if you're interested in learning how to properly engage women online, head over there.

i eventually chose political science and economics, giving up physics as too aggressive for my tastes.

Lulz. I think it's only fair after that statement that you throw up a picture now - all other MAS members have them. It could even be a private joke between you and another poster, so choose wisely! Speaking of choosing wisely, if beesly and reese are both making advances, who will you choose? Both are obviously great catches, so will you come at the decision logically, weighing the pros and cons, or will you follow your heart?

I chose economics as my minor. Do you feel Adam Smith's Invisible Hand guiding you in parts of your life outside of market activity? Wikipedia provides that "Smith demonstrated that, in a free market, an individual pursuing his own self-interest tends to also promote the good of his community as a whole through a principle that he called “the invisible hand”." How do your actions on this board, self-interested by nature, promote the good of the community as a whole?

^ when i was considering a major in physics, we learned that opposites attract...but only if they're near each other. this is why i'm trying to get near to some specific people here. further, i'll denounce you on the following point: who's to say that i'm opposites with anyone here? i've found (through simple interactions with posters, several PMs, hidden sexual and flirtatious signals, and a fair amount of analytical acumen, that i am truly quite on par with many posters here, and the fact that those posters are females i largely coincidental. but i must acquiesce and go with my instincts- which is why i'm trying to get an e-valentine. (for the private record, i don't like the term e-date because it fosters a sort of sexual image that smells of creepiness).

what i'll add to this is that the reason i'm trying to get closer to online posters while simultaneously distancing myself from the cycle's woes is because i find it very refreshing (like a digital shower) to be speaking with real humans on the other end of these keyboards and computer screens. although you may not understand it, certain connections (not just electronic) can be formed with the right amount of effort and patience. i'm doing both through my posts with the MASers (even the new inductees) and through PMs to several posters explaining that i am simply looking for what can be considered a communal spirit.

you're right about this process consuming every aspect of my life, but i will not allow it to consume me as a whole- what i mean by that is that i will allow it to proverbially nibble at certain sectors of my life but i will never let it overtake my entire person or consciousness. this is why i come here, to engage many of you and formulate friendships with others. i'm happy to say that i've created some good friends here (thought sometimes, i'll admit, it seems like most of you only like me because we belong to MAS, in the same way sororities and fraternities work. but i have faith that the ideal poster is out there, and that through enough PMs (always politely sent, of course) i can find a fun e-valentine. if AIM isn't an option with some of them, PMing all night tomorrow won't be beneath me.

Well said. May I ask what major you ultimately chose for yourself? Your answer may explain why you believe that the ideal poster is out there. For example, majoring in Literature will have exposed you to the great romantic writers of our time, possibly making you, in turn, a romantic. Also, I was wondering if you could explain some of the hidden flirtatious signals that you've been seeing? No need to be specific, of course, but I'm interested in your interpretations as I have a hard time deciphering emotion through text. Finally, I wonder, will you transfer your efforts to foster community to real life when you (if you) go to law school? In almost all cases it's easier to talk, debate, and question behind the veil of privacy on the internet - establishing a social circle in real life is a more difficult task.
