Thanks to a FB poster for the thread's idea:

What do you think your "rep" will be? Will you shoot for cool kid status, or possibly "player" or "man-whore?"  "Guy who studies all the time?"  "Girl who failed contracts because she dropped Jay-Z tracks the night before the exam?"

I think I'll be "easygoing dude who knows how to have a good time."

Yessssss!

Ditto on the "I think I'll be 'easygoing dude who knows how to have a good time.'"

Where should I go next fall? / Re: What about government jobs?

A possibly important fact to some people:  If you take a clerkship before you go to the Federal government, the government also counts that as a year of experience towards your pay (in other words, you come in as a GS-12 instead of GS-11)

Do lawyers working for the Fed cap at GS-15? From the description of the Senior Level pay scale it doesn't sound like they would generally qualify. I don't think I would have a problem with this if it does stop there, as I would ideally like to do government work and then jump into private practice from the connections I make.

Roughly how competitive are typical government jobs (i.e. are T14's auto-admits?  Top half of Georgetown?)?  What is the earnings potential after 2-3 years?  Typical # of hours worked?  Do LRAP and other similar programs consider government work "public interest" ?

$50k first year, right?

Bump. I am also extremely interested in this!

I forgive them. I thought it was funny. A couple of days ago I got the email:

"Dear Siski,

Hello, [insert name here]!

Congratulations..."

And then today I got the apologetic one. But I'm sick and hopped up on cold medicine and think lots of things are funny right now.

:D

Poor siski

Email today from LC began,

"Yesterday we sent you an email encouraging you to visit our campus and our
website for admitted students...In an attempt to reach the number of admitted students and make this a
personal contact, we mistakenly sent you a template of the email rather
than a personalized one.  We know this might have had the opposite effect,
making our correspondence seem impersonal, and for that we apologize."

What kind of admissions office does something like that?

LC is not alone--my acceptance letter from Seattle U had typos in it, for crying out loud.

I do not see these kinds of mistakes from T1 schools.  Yes, the term "T1" makes me a little ill, but I think there's a real difference beyond prestige.  The midwest schools I'm interested in describe their own programs as 'rigorous' and tout the academic accomplishments of their faculty.  LC seems to focus on their attractive location and their warm culture.

I appreciate all the plusses of UC described in this thread but primarily I want the best legal education I can get.

You're really associating the computer error of an office worker with the quality of the school? This same problem happened at Michigan earlier in the cycle - everyone makes mistakes.

Well this is horrible. Here's hoping for full coverage from Fed. loans.

NYC sucks.

Credited. Paris is also a TTT in decline. London is the best of the three.

^ those 2 schools seem to draw the greatest amount of ire from posters here. i'm not sure i can reveal the two most revealing and telling aspects of my identity as far as adcomms are concerned.

Hardly revealing, considering that you haven't divulged any other personal information. Thousands of other people could have your same numbers.
