So I ask one of my recommenders and he writes it immediately, sends it and it's already processed.  The whole thing only took about a week.  Now, is this good because he must feel strongly, or bad, because he wrote it so quickly...
It was nice to know that the LOR processing is much quicker than the transcript processing (at least it was in this case).

The UMich application packet says it takes two weeks because LSAC also sends a print copy, so the application isn't considered received until that is received as well.

I've got a little bit of experience with tax law since my mom is a tax lawyer and I've got to agree with Swifty that it does not really involve math at all.  And it is also true that the laws are always changing and you have to keep up.  But CPE and keeping up is annoying for all attorneys, not just tax lawyers.    ;)
