We were told here, in Texas, to expect nothing this Fall, but to be all right for graduation in May, 2011. I heard that V&E took like 5 1Ls for summer - all were diverse females. I want to clerk post-graduation, and I fear this whole thing will drive up the competition for those spots, and it's not like I'm wanting to clerk for a magistrate judge in North Dakota.
That sounds like a great way to keep you paying tuition dollars.
I mean, holy f*ck like anybody really knows what the job market is going to be like in a couple of years. Any one who tells you they know is a liar.
I like the line about tuition dollars.
Yeah, that wasn't the word from our people; it comes from the same Career Services office that sent an email out in January asking people who were applying for judicial internships to ensure that their voicemails didn't contain obscenities.
Our career guy basically said it was a, with apologies to Full Metal Jacket, sh!t sandwich and everyone's gonna have to take a bite. He said with reporting back from 10% of the firms that did OCI there were a total of 24 people who received 36 offers from the Fall, when Texas still seemed to be fine. Moral of the story is that our school has never had robust OCI, never will, and maybe we'll be fine through it.
