Law School Admissions / Re: Any word from Emory on scholarships?
« on: March 03, 2008, 09:41:12 AM »
I received that e-mail on January 31st...  I was not happy but I got it postmarked the next day and they accepted it.  To my knowledge they are going to honor it and consider me for merit scholarship.

Up to that point I was unaware that there was another form required for mertit based scholarships because at almost every other law school you are automatically considered for most merit based scholarships.  It was a rude awakening.

When I had a phone interview with UVA admissions they said that they are going to get out all decisions by April 1st, he did say that hopefully they will get them out sooner but there is no sure thing.  I'm a virginia resident as well.

Choosing the Right Law School / UVA Interview Help!!!!
« on: February 22, 2008, 03:36:51 PM »
I just received an e-mail from UVA asking for a phone interview early next week!!  First of all I am ecstatic that I didn't go directly into the reject pile.

I'm decent at interviews but not great because I have an introverted personality.  Anyone have any ideas of what types of questions they are going to ask or what to expect during the interview.  Any tips???

Judging from the way the GOP destroyed Kerry, Clinton would be virtually unrecognizable by the end of a presidential campaign.  I think it would be 55/45.

And why do people like or dislike Bloomberg?  I know almost nothing about him.

Bloomberg regards himself as a "fiscal conservative", however he leans left on such issues as Abortion (pro choice), Stem Cell Research (federal funding for embryonic stem cells) and pro gay marriage.  He also is a supporter of strict gun control, and is against the death penalty.  He also supports amnesty for illegals, carbon taxes to combat global warming, he also supports increases for welfare and government support programs.

He ran as a Republican to be the mayor of NYC however he had been a life long democrat.  He does lean to the right on some issues, most notably the war in Iraq.  He strongly supported the war for the first few years however has pulled back some of his support.  He believes a timetable for withdrawal would be irresponsible.  He also strongly supports the Patriot act.  He stands by his policy of not raising taxes though he has raised the property tax to help balance the budget.

Long answer to a simple question... sorry

People like him because he is a centrist.  Oh yeah and he has about 15 billion dollars, that plus a high approval rating in the huge voting block that is NYC makes him an attractive candidate for independent voters who are like minded.

Well I heard Glenn Beck going on and on about it, but if you go to google and search obama bloomberg ticket you will get several quality hits.  They have kept in fairly constant communication over the course of the campaign.
