ZAP: Please do let us know. I've at their 75% for GPA but way under for LSAT.
&by the way, I never said congrats on the GW accept. That must be exciting/relieving
Sorry, I forgot to revisit this thread. But I did get into Minnesota, which tells me they probably are doing it based on 75% numbers... both of mine were over their threshold. Minnesota over GW? Not sure, but I think I'd take Minnesota. It's still early in the process for me though, and I still have 14 schools to hear from (mostly pretty much auto-dings, but maybe some not). I'm also in at W+L, and that has to factor into the calculation. I hope to be in at Vandy... if that's the case, that will be a huge one to decide over, since I'm already in Nashville and enjoy a low cost of living. But we'll see how it pans out, I think it's always better to have too many choices than too few! I hope Minnesota goes on and lets you in after they're done deferring. I really do think they mostly admit autoadmits early on, from what I've seen. ZAP

Stop trying to assign the cool points! I'll take care of that... you're still sitting pretty where you were. ZAP oh, you're right, then!
-1 cool point for me (damn, that brings me back down to .9)
uh...not cool
...my automatic darn list.
ZAP
Complain to Andrew, not me. I was mocking the profanity filter like an ironic hipster. Thus, very cool.

- Cat Stevens is great (not pandering for cool points, here). I've changed many minds about CT and, perhaps as importantly, Harold and Maude.
- Drunk philosophy bothers me more than most people, I would think. Once a girl at a bar asked me "what is (my) philosophy, man?" I thought I would mock her and say "Drink till' you puke, man, PARTY!!!" She cheered and admitted to sharing my "philosophy on life, man."
Man, that is REALLY unfortunate. The drunk girl part, I mean; the Cat Stevens stuff is actually quite fortunate. I hope she wasn't hot, because hot girls like that REALLY piss me off more than not hot girls. Basically, it has a lot to do with the fact that I'd like to find myself attracted to them, and yet can't because of their stupidity. Anyone who talks about how philosophical drugs or alcohol make you is on my automatic darn list. ZAP

Bleh, a woman just staying home. Barbaric.
I hope you're kidding, because if not, you're an idiot.
My wife and I sat down and discussed what we wanted before we got married. We agree that it would be best if one of us stay home with the children while they are school age. (Yes, I would stay home if my wife earned enough money.) Barbaric would be making her stay home against her will- nothing could be further from the truth. We both believe that the greatest job a parent has is raising children- being a lawyer pales in comparison.
You, sir, can go to hell. Next time think before making asinine psuedo-sensitive responses in a weak and pathethic attempt to win brownie points with female posters. You'll always be nothing more than just their "best friend".
Have a nice day.

Take it easy, I am pretty sure he was just kidding.
It sounds really nice to me. I wouldn't mind being in either of your places, yours or your wife's.
Being a lawyer is secondary to my real dream of being the next Britney Spears.

When your friends were standing around smoking did you chew on a toothpick or anything like that?
I was drinking spiked punch previously. And I had just gotten done discussing the circle of 16 from eastern music, reflecting on the coolness of the sitar/tamboura conglomerate, and commenting on how Yusif Islam threw it all away (we liked him better as Cat Stevens). Following that, I listened to a funny incident about my friend telling this drunk guy to shut up and "stop playing fake drunk philosopher". After which we all agreed that philosophy is cool, but fake drunk philosophy is definitely NOT cool, especially when the loser employing it is trying to use it to hook up with a chick, and miserably failing. All of which is to say, no I did not have a toothpick to chew on. But that is a great suggestion, and a very cool thing to do. +1.5 cool points. ZAP

Cool points are unlegalistic. You cannot get cool points through legalistic means. In fact, this is a detriment to cool points. Legalism is not cool. ZAP the exact phrase was "mere mention"
keep sitting, chump
I think a Depeche Mode reference has to sound genuine, such as my mentioning of the vocals on "Question of Lust." I will sit corrected if I am wrong, though.

Not entirely wrong. But the concept of cool points is more thoroughly explained in the post above, and really his assumption about the nature of cool points is where he went wrong. ZAP

you promised 2 cool points for mentions of Depeche Mode; as far as I'm concerned that puts my total at 1
lying is not cool: -5 cool points for The ZAPINATOR
Depeche Mode
(woo-hoo, I'm back in the black!)
+.9 cool points (HA! Still .1 cool point in the red!)
ZAP
No. You misunderstand the concept of cool points. That is all. That statement was addressed to Viva, in that particular circumstance. There is no standardized way to get cool points, because there is no rhyme or reason to cool points. I just give them out and take them away in any quantity at whim. The moment they become standardized they cease to be cool. Still, just to be nice, this once I'll give you +.5, which leaves you at +.4 cool points. This is what we, in the marketplace, like to refer to as "bargaining". Bargaining is cool, and fun for the whole family! ZAP
