Pre-Class of 2000, as in before 2000....

obviously if you caught this before I modified it you know the real date - but its like under 200 kids in my graduating class.  and well we can count the minorities on our fingersnow cant we?

that is correct - so you are not pp9 but you know of us - its strange becasue of pp9 I assume every single black/hispanic person who went through prep school is pp9 but its not a real division since black/hispanics in prep schools are such a rarity and therefore exist in a insulated ethnic micro world.  but yea there are the ABC people, the Oliver people, the on their own people, the recruited people , and the I have money so I aint on scholarship people.

western MA I believe - but my memories foggy since I havent been back since graduation.

well there are different type of cesspools for Prep kids, I am not sure which ones you are talking about: the PP9 ones or the regular white rich ones....

I know of a number of colleges that are like that:  Wesleyan, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Colby, Trinity in CT..... the list goes on....

R u a PP9 person, or do you know pp9 b/c u went to school with pp9 people?

my terminology is not up to date but I think I was in the Founders?  Meaning part of the original schools I guess -    my school is on the small side so I really would be outing my self - but what the hey - its not Andover or NMH and my schools arch enemy is a school CT.

actually GW was the highest ranked school I got in to - I dont know if previous poster was trying to be snarky or not about getting in top 10...I decided to go to Fordham.

GW is a top 20 school(but could just as easily be bounced out into low 20s), great market - and you can definitely leave with 125K salary or what ever the going rate on Top Law jobs are but to think that even top 1/3 of class is leaving with that is crrrazy.  Maybe Top 10 - 20% - but the same can be said for some other top 20 - 50 schools....

The average person DOES NOT walk out of GW with a 125k salary  - i think  a lot of schools do inflate their salary numbers and employment numbers ....having said that graduating from GW gives a significant boost in attaining that salary.

(as for me when it comes to getting the highest paying job I can get out of school - Fordham = GW, so I took the less expensive option.

regarding financial aid - one of the deans or administrators at GW admit day said they over extended aid to people last year and were giving a lot less this year to new 1L's and 2L's to balance it out.  Anyone on admit day who attended aid session heard that.

Lex19 - did you go to prep school?  just curious.....

also, however trivial - I was quietly accused of having stolen a classmates scientific calculator - I say silently because her and her friend for practically the entire semester shot me death stares and snide looks and gossiped I had taken her calculator (even though I had the same calc from the beginnging when she had hers)- so I was the calculator bandit for a while before she got a good look at my calculator and realized ----wooops it wasn't hers.

yes I know trivial - but the point was there.

a high paying job is not guaranteed or practically guarnateed from GW - its a great school with great connections but a gurantee?  I dont think so only Top 7 schools can pretty much offer that ...............

oh and GW pretty much said at admit day that they over-promised on money and more people ended up accepting last year so they were offering a lot less money this year to make up for the short fall last year for both entering 1L's and 2L's which i think really sucks!  a big reason why i didnt go althought not getting the right vibe from the school added to it.

that is tough - go where you would like to enjoy 3 years of your life - if you feel you have the financial stamina to pay off huge chunks of debt - some people feel comfortable go with it - but if you could enjoy UM and its a fraction - I would go with the fraction.....I hear people acting like 100 - 150 K is no big deal compared to future earning potential - it isnt if you got an amazing deal like top 5 or ivy - but thats serious money and serious debt - and I dont think people understand what making 1000+ monthly payments on your student loan to pay it off in 20 years along with LIVING expenses and treating yourself is really going to be like - and you can't discharge educational debt AND bankruptcy rules are now going to be stricter.  PAYING of debt is no fun I have plenty of exprience with that and I had a real good situation to allow me to pay if off -

there shouldsnt be any question of it - hello - columbia ALL THE WAY.
