I don't think the email means anything. It's just a list of updates. Allow me to copy and paste...

Good morning.  Just want to remind you of a several things --

First - Admitted Student Portal
If you have not logged on to the GW Law Admitted Student Portal, I urge you to do so by going to:

There is a great deal of information you may access through this portal that will help you learn more about our law school, as well as upcoming events for admitted students.  There also are several discussion boards in which you may wish to participate (connect with some of your future classmates, ask questions of current students, look for roommates, etc.).  If you have any trouble logging on, please let me know.

Second - Admitted Student Receptions Across the Country
We will be hosting admitted student receptions in a number of cities throughout the country during the next six weeks.  These events will provide you the opportunity to visit with GW Law administrators, faculty members, current students and alumni (Dean Lawrence will attend as many of these events as he possibly can).  You may bring one or more guests to these admitted studdent receptions.

Specific details about the admitted student receptions (dates, locations and times) are posted on the admitted student portal and you may RSVP on the portal.  Please check the list of events (you may come to as many of them as you wish) and submit your RSVP's online as soon as possible.  Please note that the first of these events will be next week -- in Chicago, IL, on February 26th; and in Columbus, OH, on February 28th.

Third - Preview Events at GW Law
Preview Events at GW Law will be held during the first week of April.  Preview Evening will be on Wednesday evening, April 2nd, from 3:30 to 9:15 p.m., and is designed for students who are considering joining us in our part-time evening program.  Preview Day will be on Friday, April 4th, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and is designed for admitted students who are considering joining us in our full-time day program.

We will provide reimbursement of up to $150.00 of the transportation costs you incur to come to either of our preview events if you ultimately matriculate at GW Law (details about our reimbursement policy is posted on the admitted student portal).

We will post detailed schedules for Preview Evening and Preview Day on the admitted student portal within the next week.  We also ask that you RSVP for Preview Evening or Preview Day online through the admitted student portal as soon as possible.  Please note that, due to the large number of admitted students who typically attend our preview events, we are not able to accommodate guests either at Preview Evening or at Preview Day.

Fourth - Merit Scholarship Awards/Financial Aid
We are sending out the first round of merit scholarship awards tomorrow (notificiation will be by letter sent in the US Mail).  As I am sure you can appreciate, our merit funds are limited and the award process is ongoing (if individuals offered merit scholarships decline the offers, we will continue to make awards until we have spent all available merit funds).

At GW Law, in addition to merit scholarship funds, we have a large fund of need-based aid available to our students.  All students who qualify for "need" will be awarded a need-based grant that may range from $3,000 to $19,000 per year.  Students apply for need-based aid each year -- thus, as your need situation changes during your time in law school (e.g., as you take on more student loan debt), the amount of your need-based grant likewise may change.  Please be sure that you submit your FAFSA and PROFILE as soon as possible if you wish to be considered for need-based aid.  You can review detailed information about financial aid at GW Law by going to:

As always, please let us know if you have questions or if we can be of assistance as you choose which law school you will attend.  The members of or admissions office staff (listed below) are here to help in any way that we can.

Anne Richard - Associate Dean -
  JoSie Shelby-Wilson - Director of Admissions -
Danielle Porcelli - Director of Recruiting -
Matthew Dillard - Admissions Counselor -
Thank you.  Have a good weekend.

My boyfriend does the commute from AU area every day to Vienna and it's not terrible.. takes him about forty five minutes. Definitely doable, but unpleasant.

Just got a generic updates email from the dean that says they are sending the first scholarships out via U.S. Mail tomorrow. Fingers are crossed! What sort of number do you think they will be offering scholarships to?

ugh still complete! Glad to hear that they haven't admitted a lot of people yet.. I was starting to take it personally.  :-[

I'm from Pittsburgh and have a couple of friends who go to Pitt Law and love it. My dad teaches in their Engineering school. Pittsburgh is a suprisingly fun city and there is a lot to do in Oakland, where Pitt is located. Not the most upscale part of the city, but that's part of the charm hah.
