Speaking of older stats, anyone know of a source that has data from previous cycles? Like the medians from 5-10 years ago..?

I think it was established elsewhere that the Columbia status checker does not actually go to decision, it just notes whether or not you are complete. Just an FYI.

TITCR.  I lived to see another day.  I'm going to call them tomorrow and tell them I want to send in another recommendation.  Hopefully, they'll tell me if I went to decision or not yet.

Congrats to all the other acceptees.

tl, I predict you'll be getting super duper news on Super Duper Tuesday! :)

Sorry if I'm slightly hijacking your thread, but why do people defer admission to go do other things (like Teach for America)?  Why didn't you just wait and apply to schools later?  I'm sure there's a very simple explanation, but I have been wondering that.

It gets harder and harder to get into law school with each passing year.  Two years from now, it will be even more competitive.  Medians at the bottom of the t-14 will be at 172.  I would take my chances now.

So do the LSATs and GPAs of students who defer count toward USNWR stats for the year in which they're accepted or the year in which they matriculate?

I worked my butt off throughout undergrad for a good GPA.  It is fair.

Agreed.

i'm scared to go home.  the columbia rejection is probably waiting for me.

Did your status checker go to decision?

Admissions offices are saying applications are down across the board. Not sure what GW's situation is, but is it possible that this is an extraordinarily good, or bad, year to be on waitlists?

This is just my totally unsubstantiated view, but I think this is going to be a good year for waitlistees. Last year seemed like one of the worst: I remember reading a few schools' sites saying that no one was accepted off their waitlist. Plus, because so many people apparently accepted offers last year, I think schools are being more cautious about making too many offers from the outset this year, hence more WL movement later on. Hopefully at least.

GW is REALLY tough to figure out this cycle though...I was noticing on LSN how there seemed to be no consistency. Some high GPA/low LSAT people got WLed, some traditional splitters got WLed, some with both numbers around the medians got rejected.... who knows.

Eek about the cuteness rating...if you are hoping to write an essay so it will score cuteness points, it probably isn't a good topic. This is supposed to be a major accomplishment, right? I'm thinking that a flowery, verbose display of affection for your GF won't do a whole lot to improve your candidacy for admission to this law school. If you can say something more meaningful, then you'll be scoring the right kind of points.
