I never mark race (as I do not believe in the idea of race as anything other than a meaningless social classification). However, my name looks like a typical URM name (I do not think it helps me any in the admissions process).

Where should I go next fall? / Re: Why is everyone's GPA so high?
« on: February 28, 2005, 08:41:12 AM »
I always wonder why people have such low GPAs. I am very lazy, always took 18+ credits (at a school where all classes are three credit hours), play rugby, rarely study and go to a school notorious for being difficult.

Note to LaneSwerver on Soul Man: C. Thomas Howell took the bronzing pills to qualify for the only remaining scholarship, not to be admitted.  He already had a spot in the class.

So YOU'RE the other person who's seen the movie!
I love that movie

Remember, not all 125k+ jobs are the same. Their is a big difference between working at a Vault 10 firm and the firms in the 90-100 range. I for one would rather be 150k in debt with a chance at Wachtell or Cravath then be debt free and stuck at  Kelly, Drye and Warren. Not just because of the prestige, but because they have better per partner profits and a higher salary and bonus after the first year.

I second the other posters suggestion to run your numbers through Chiashu and/or LSACs calculator.

You aren't a racist, just a jerk.

Wait List / Re: Deferred At Harvard ... Can't Believe It!

I was kinda hoping for one of these today, after seeing them all over XOXO. Unfortunately, I still see a rejection in the future.

Are you sending any extra stuff?

Affirmative Action / Re: falsifying race

I do not advice anyone to lie. However, Michigan's application (and I believe others are similar) did not ask what race you are but what racial/ethnic group do you best identify with. Based on the wording it would be impossible for them to say anything, no matter what you marked. Aside from being immoral, you will also put yourself on the bad side of a lot of people (mainly the administration) which can always come to bite you.

If your LSAT was wall above their 75th and it was clear from your application that you would not attend, then it is possible they yield protected you.
