ITE, I'm having a kind of tough time deciding. Not taking COL into account, it looks like I'd have to take out $58000 in loans at UIUC, vs. $90000 at GW. I do think that I prefer GW a bit (and I definitely prefer DC), but if I'm not really looking for BIGLAW, I'm not sure whether the extra $30000 would be worth it.
Thoughts?

So I sent an update around to several schools 2-3 weeks ago, informing them about my Fall '08 GPA. I also talked about a paper that I had accepted to a national professional conference, and mentioned that I'd submitted a version of it to a national undergraduate conference. I just learned that the paper was accepted to the national undergrad conference. Is it worth it to send another update, or would that be creating extra paperwork for little gain?

Any takers? I might throw in some other perks too, like thinking good thoughts about you later and maybe even saying thank you.

3.03/175 Straight from UG Worked ~25 hrs/week during UG Strong Upward GPA Trend (3.6-3.7ish last couple semesters) 1 Super Recommendation, 1 "Meh" Recommendation Decent (not mind-blowing) Softs
Uber-Reaches Columbia (Fee Waiver) UVA (Fee Waiver)
Reaches Vandy (Fee Waiver) Northwestern (Fee Waiver) GULC
Targets WUSTL (Fee Waiver) Texas George Washington (EARLY DECISION) UCLA (Fee Waiver)
Safeties W&L (Fee Waiver) IU-Bloomington (Fee Waiver) UIUC (Fee Waiver)(resident) Emory
Do I have enough in each category? Are my categorizations misplaced, given my numbers? I'm trying to keep my application costs down, so the fee waivers have been a great help, but should I add anything extra? I'm also wondering about the UCLA. It's only 12 bucks, but I really have no intention of going there. I guess I could use it for scholarship leverage somewhere, maybe.
Oh, and feel free to make predictions, too. Anybody who comes reasonably close wins a prize*.
Thanks in advance.

NPE has decided to try for the GW Early Decision, and the accompanying full ride. GW says that they don't require any recommendations, but that they accept up to two. NPE's academic adviser will be finished in the next couple of weeks with her letter, which NPE expects to be stellar. NPE's other recommender is notoriously slow, and while the letter is expected to be good, NPE does not expect it to be nearly as convincing as the adviser's letter. NPE's numbers, soft factors, etc. are in the LSN link in his sig.
If each of these premises is true, which course of action should NPE take?
A) Submit as early as possible, regardless of whether any letters are ready. Send them as they come in. B) Submit when the adviser's letter is ready, but don't wait for the other. C) Submit when both letters are ready. D) Don't apply to GW Early Decision at all. E) Hey, is that Alton Brown?

Let me know. Maybe we'll do a little "I'll show you mine, you show me yours" type deal if you want.
