Law School Discussion

Iowa was my top choice of my targets and now that I have been accepted I would like to hear from someone who knows about the law school about employment prospects. I spoke with a 1L but they did not know much about this. I have thought long and hard about retaking the LSAT and waiting a year because I took about a 10pt hit on from my PTs because I was so anxious during the testing. I figured that a 160 LSAT and a 4.0 GPA would place me at a school where I would have a good chance of doing well. And I don't mean guaranteed top 10% but I figured I could at least stay in the top 30% or so. Is this true?

The 1L I spoke with said top 30% would give one a good chance of landing a job paying $85,000 or more. Does anyone have any real evidence that this is untrue?

P.S. I have already seen the JDUnderground link about how Iowa Law is so terrible. But I would like to hear some substantiative advice about the school good or bad

Wow! I badly wanted to go to Vandy but when I made a 160 on the LSAT I did not even apply. Are you URM?

Also I got accepted to Iowa.

I had a similar situation I had a criminal charge at age 15. I cannot tell you what kind of effect it is having on my applications but I have received 3 acceptances and at least one of those was a target. I don't think it has had too much of an effect because I explained the situation and how I have changed since then. Good luck.

No, I am from Tennessee. However, you get in-state after one year at Florida so that is a huge draw.

I am not completely sure about how the status checker thing works in conjunction with receiving a accept/reject notification. The three schools I have applied to that have status checkers are Iowa, Georgia, and Ohio State.

My question is if my status checker changes how soon should I receive notification of their decision. Would I receive an e-mail that day? For example, I have seen on Law School Numbers that Iowa had sent e-mail for acceptances. If I do not receive an e-mail is this a sign of a rejection? Do some schools send e-mail at first and latter in the cycle send letters?
