« on: February 18, 2008, 10:05:38 AM »
Is there anyone out there that is taking the LSAT in June in London? I am in London and I just signed up for the TestMasters course. I am self-studying as well and would love to set up a study group! I have asked this before. I just wanted to see if there are any recent newbies!

Studying for the LSAT / Making the Connection
« on: February 04, 2008, 05:57:09 AM »
I am taking the test in June. I am also taking a TestMasters course, which starts in April. I am studying on my own until then. I can score in the 170's with an extra 5 or 10 minutes. I know the material, I know the strategies, but when I time myself I don't seem to make the connection. I feel like I am answering questions by the seat of my pants and not processing the info, filtering it through what strategies I know ans then answering. Any suggestions for linking strategies to practice?

So I am taking the test in June, in London. I brought all my prep material with me when I came over. I have both bibles and about 40 tests. Testmasters offers a class in London for the June test, which I am planning to take. Thet said that if they do not get 3-5 people to take the course, they will have to cancel it. So I am studying using the bibles and the tests I have. Testmasters recommends not studying before taking their course, but I kind of have to because if I find out they canceled their couse, I would lose months of study time. So my question is has anyone studied with the Powerscore Bibles and they taken the Testmasters course? Did the studying with Powerscore confuse you when you got to the course?

Thanks.

I am taking the LSAT in London and I had a question about registration. Should I change my details on my LSAC file to reflect my London address? I have a mailing address in the states and am planning to move back in a year and a half for law school. Also, when it comes time for applications should I use my mailing address in the states or address in London? Any advice is much appreciated.

Personal Statement / Recovering drug addict and alcoholic
« on: October 31, 2007, 08:54:13 PM »
Hey guys. I have been sober for over four years and by the time I apply it will be five and some change. Do I use this in my personal statement as an obstacle in my life that I overcame? Does it make me diverse? Or is it whinny and pathetic..I certainly do not think it is pathetic but it helps to explain my DUI and poor performance during freshman year. Has anyone written a personal statement to that effect? Is anyone going through the same process? I come from a middle class white family and I moved when I was 14 which was right between middle school and highschool. I think this move jump started my career with drugs, not to mention I enjoyed traveling around the country seeing music. So, what do you think? Would this subject make a good personal statement? Do I just touch on it and move in a different direction or make it an obstacle.

Thanks!

Studying for the LSAT / How quickly does LSAT test registration fill up?
« on: October 29, 2007, 06:01:46 PM »
I am taking the LSAT in London in June. Is it way to early to go ahead a register for the test? How soon does the June test fill up? Do you think that taking it in London means that there are not as many people that are going to register for it? I am just worrked I won't get a seat! Also, I saw that Testmasters finally posted a full-length course schedule in London!! That is good news for me..

Studying for the LSAT / Reviewing RC sections
« on: October 24, 2007, 05:27:04 PM »
So, when you review your prep test that you just took timed, how do you go about reviewing the RC section? With LG and LR it seems a bit easier because you can see the key inferences you missed or the reasoning behind the correct answer. What is your approach for reviewing RC? Do you reread the passage, go only to the questions you got wrong and try to figure them out? Is there a "best approach" for reviewing the RC section?

Has anyone ever taken one of these free LSAT tests with Kaplan? I am scheduled to take on this weekend and I just wanted to know what I am getting myself into. God, I hope they do not try to sell me on their class. I just want the practice!!
