General Board / Where Can I Find a Good Basic Introduction to Our Courts System?« on: May 12, 2008, 09:32:28 PM »
I get the District, Appelate (sp?), and SCOTUS thing, but I'm still a little lost on the different state courts (and commonwealth, magistrate), as well as the arrangement of the DA offices in the US.

Where should I go next fall? / Should I Visit UVa Next Week? I'm Worried that I'll Like It.« on: May 11, 2008, 12:57:02 PM »
I tenatively chose a different school, but I've never visited, and I have an excellent opportunity to do so next week. I'm worried that I'll like it, since I'm a sucker for rural areas with great weather and attractive women.
What do you think? Also, does anyone have good driving directions/things to do between DC and C'Ville? 15

Any takers? I'm sure there's a Maryland student lurking here somewhere.

Where should I go next fall? / PSA: There is No Good Reason Not to Take A Year Off Between College/LS.« on: May 03, 2008, 12:50:11 PM »
I think I'm correct on this one in all instances. Yes, all. You hear me -- pre-law students still in school? Take a year off. I don't care if you have to work for a pizza place while soaking beer cans in grease.
There is a world of difference between the callow college graduate and the smart student who has had a year to scan papers in an office. And I'm sure that you could always have an interesting work related story or two for firms or anyone who cares to ask you about your life. It's a win-win situation. In fact, I'm not sure why so many people are intent on doing law school out of college, unless they're non-traditional students. Anywoo, good luck. ![]() 20
General Off-Topic Board / ITT We Guess the Oakland Raiders' Record Next Year« on: April 27, 2008, 11:50:17 PM »
After their two offensive acquisitions in the last two drafts, I'm going to go out on a limb and say a cool 8-8. The defense is still filled with holes, and their offensive line and WRs could use some work without a Moss lodestar, but I predict an exciting and competent year for them.
