Law School Admissions / Reminders of Financial Aid = Acceptance??
« on: February 29, 2008, 08:46:02 AM »
Southwestern has sent me a couple e-mails this week reminding me to apply for finanacial aid.  However, as of yet, my application status check online says they're still reviewing my file.

Do ya'll think these e-mails are an early indication that I'm close to being accepted/a serious contender??  No other law schools have sent me these kinds of e-mails...only Southwestern.

Tough luck for the Patriots...turned out to be a pretty good game though.  I was just hoping it wouldn't be a blowout, and thank goodness it wasn't.

Solid job by the Giants front four though.  Now THAT was some serious pressure they put on Brady all nite!

Law School Admissions / Re: Personal statements- how long is too long?

Your friend *should* be able to get it down to 2 pg, double spaced.  I started out with around 3 full pages but have been able to scale it back to 2 pages to make it more coherent and to the point.  I think my PS is much stronger now than when it was several pages, but to each his own.

Arizona State, Southwestern, or South Texas.  And then I can start breathing a little easier...

I's unlikely there'll be a mapping game.  But for me, I always found those to be the easiest.

Law School Admissions / Scholarships??
« on: January 13, 2008, 01:39:42 PM »
So let's say that some schools that I'm applying to don't offer me any scholarships (or make it too low to realistically make it possible to attend)  Does anyone know of any sites or links that have reputable scholarship apps available, regardless of where I attend??

Thanks for the help ya'll.

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: 3.35/154...Any Thoughts??

Keep your chin up buddy.  South Texas or St. Mary's would be a good fit for far as Tech, Pepperdine and UNLV, those might be a bit of a reach.  I agree with the previous comment that FSU would be a tough one (but I'm not too familiar with their program, so don't take my word on it)

However, stranger things have happened.  Good luck.

Law School Admissions / Re: Nicest/Meanest Admsissions Offices?
« on: January 08, 2008, 08:14:11 PM »
I'll add on the Admissions people at Arizona State are very friendly and helpful.  They've answered my questions in a relatively quick timeframe (a day or two, at most) and have seemingly gone out of their way to keep me updated on the status of my application.  One of the Directors of Admissions from the College of Law who I met at one of the Forums has been a big help and one of the reasons I decided to apply to the school.  By far, Arizona State has gone above and beyond what I'd expect from a law school in terms of friendliness and efficiency.

There have been a few schools though that I have been less impressed with.  Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess.

Law School Admissions / LSAT Addendum Needed?
« on: December 22, 2007, 02:41:23 PM »
I was wondering if you all think I need to submit an LSAT addendum to the schools I'm applying to?  I took the test in Sept. and did fairly poorly on it (part of it related to nerves and stress as I put quite a bit of studying time into it)  I retook in December and saw an 8 point jump in my score.  (It's much more respectable now)

Anyways, with my gpa of a 3.31 (3.6 for my major), I'm unsure if the added addendum would help my case...or be merely another essay that adcoms would have to look at.  Any ideas??

Edit:  My LSAT is now a 153
