This is interesting...also heartening (perhaps) to see that no one lists "living out of a box." So far.

This entire case:

and this

On the evening of May 29, 2003, Hayden was smoking crack with three other folks at a trailer park home on Chain of Rocks Road in Granite City, Illinois. Murphy, Sr.  , who had sold drugs to Hayden several years earlier, showed up later that night. He was friendly at first, but he soon called Hayden a "snitch female dog hoe" (footnote 1) and hit her in the head with the back of his handů.

(footnote 1) The trial transcript quotes Ms. Hayden as saying Murphy called her a snitch female dog "hoe." A "hoe," of course, is a tool used for weeding and gardening. We think the court reporter, unfamiliar with rap music (perhaps thankfully so), misunderstood Hayden's response. We have taken the liberty of changing "hoe" to "ho," a staple of rap music vernacular as, for example, when Ludacris raps "You doin' ho activities with ho tendencies."

It's kind of a shame that Judge Kent is no longer able to give us these epic opinions anymore...

The *&^% county attorney's pays 50k a year and brings on more new hires per year than many large law firms. Their salaries TOP OUT below a NYC biglaw starting salary, though.

Current Law Students / Re: How hard is law school?

It's f-ing hard.

You'll have to get there and experience it for yourself.

Well, grades this semester are a bust. What I wouldn't give for a plus or two next to some of those B's...hell, just ONE of those B's...

Looking at a nice slot dead center, maybe top 40% if quartiles turn out to be generous this year. OCI isn't going to get me anything, though I suppose I will bid on those firms that say they will accept bids from top 50%-ers. I'm at Minnesota.

Any upperclassmen kind enough to give me some helpful advice on what I can do to start my self-directed job search come this fall? I'm pretty much open to anything but would like to avoid local government or judicial work.

I vote for NEVER.  That wasn't an option, but it should be.   ;)

Current Law Students / Re: Anyone Kinda Wish They Could Do 1L Again?

I wish I could do it again to get better grades!

Also, after 1st semester, everything is much more illuminated and not so awful.

Wait until he takes a family law class and sees how much fun a divorce would be, and then see if he still wants to get married.

I'm sure your husband would be happy to discuss this with you if you were to ask him, instead of taking your concerns to an message board.
