1L job search / Political Jobs

Hi everyone -

I haven't posted much for awhile, and apologies if this has been addressed but I have been living under the 1L rock for awhile. My question is about summer jobs that indicate political orientation. Do you think it is a bad idea to take a job that clearly indicates your political leanings? How much of an issue do you think that would be to 2L summer employers? I know it can be hard to get summer jobs as a 1L under the best of circumstances and I'm at a T2. Does anyone have any experience in this area, or know of anyone who has experience?

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Philadelphia Schools

I'm not sure which board I should post this on, but I thought I'd try here. I'm going to be looking for a roommate, male or female, in Philadelphia (I will be at Temple) and was wondering if anyone from any of the Philly area schools is also and would like to exchange emails and see if we might be a good match? I figured I'd try LSD before Craigslist haha.

General board for soon-to-be 1Ls / Housing Questions - Off Campus

At what point should I begin seriously looking for apartments? My orientation starts in mid August, and I am close enough to the city I will be attending school (New York to Philly) that I could go multiple weekends. I have never had to do this before, so I'm wondering when most people start looking.

Also, at what point do our Stafford loan funds become availabe? (More to the point, will I have to pay the deposits out of pocket?)

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Law School Applications / Withdrawing after deposit...

Is it ok to withdraw via email from a school you already put down a deposit at? Or is that expected to be more formal?

General Board / How do I deal with the dreaded "Where are you working" question?

I attend a top law school. Most student have jobs, but I suspect there are more of us than you'd think without them.

But no one talks about it.

I get asked at least 5 times each day, "Where are you working?" and I have no answer. I think it's kind of a rude question. They could at least say, "Where do you want to work?" or "Do you know where you're working?"

It's the first question any student (or faculty member) asks. They randomly bring it up when it's no where near the topic we were discussing.

It's extremely frustrating.

If I can't come up with something snappy to say, I'm going to end up hitting someone.

Law School Applications / If your cycle is over...

Doesn't it feel strange to see the next crop of applicants appearing on LSD? (People taking the June LSAT?)

I've been thinking about nothing but law school apps for a year now, and it's so strange that there are people just starting the process!
