Visits, Admit Days, and Open Houses / Re: UW Madison v. Iowa

Wisco for work in Chicago? I wouldn't put money on it. 99% of all Wisco grads stay in state (completely unverified, off-my-arse number). Remember, no bar exam for Wisco/Marquette grads if working in state. You could get a great job here, tho.

K, the above mentioned rumor is not true. I wish it was.  :-\

I think they're probably trying to work out that whole 65% in-state thing right now...AFAIK no one from out of state has been admitted yet.

If that is true it def explains a lot and makes me feel a little better.

Alrighty then...time for me to spend a couple hours on LSN and check that out. That would make me feel better, tho, too.

Texas is just very frustrating. Accepted to Vandy, full ride at WUSTL, and nothing from TX, the school in between those two. Don't get me wrong, I'm pumped and thankful for VLS and WUSTL, but just frustrated by their southern peer.

Law School Admissions / Texas...WTF?

Went complete on 11/07/07. Both #s above their medians...and nothing. Not even a waitlist or rejection.

C'mon, Texas. You WERE my first choice. But can't you even give me a response, one way or the other? You're the only school I've yet to hear from!

I wish I could quit you.

Do we have to register for the ASDs online or what?

Choosing the Right Law School / Re: WUSTL Full Ride vs. Vanderbilt

First off congrats on the full ride.

IMO, I would choose WUSTL. Some people are really into Vandy, but I think WUSTL is a better academic institution overall. It's impressive when you look at how they have built their law school faculty and student body over the last few years.

I didn't like Vandy when I went to visit, but many posters felt the opposite way. You should visit both schools and see what you like and dislike about each.

I just visited Vandy...the school was great, Nashville, not so much. Plan to go to WUSTL soon.

Thanks again everyone. I think it would take at least 75% tuition scholarship from Vandy to come close to matching WUSTL's offer in my mind. But very honored w/ both.

WUSTL bc of the scholly. The south is not unattainable out of WUSTL by any means especially if you have connections. I will concede that Vandy has better overall placement, especially in the south, I really doubt that the placement is $150K better. In contrast, I would definitely say a top 10 school would definitely be worth it.

This is what's holding me back...I have no ties to the South, as of now. Hoping to remedy that w/ my summer positions...

I really appreciate everyone's feedback. I think I agree with all of you, esp. considering how close they are in rankings.

You'll be in a huge amount of debt at Vandy, and WUSTL should keep open just about as many doors.  I would choose WUSTL without a second thought unless Vandy comes through with money (ask them).

Trust me, I will be!  ;D Just trying to do it tactfully...

It'd be all loans, unless they come through with some $$.
