Law School Applications / Negotiating Scholarships?
« on: January 06, 2008, 10:03:37 PM »
Does anyone know if it is common to ask schools for more money? For example, i got 25k from a school but would want at least 30k to make it reasonable for me to go to an out of state school. If anyone has asked for extra money or know someone who has, please post the results.

Law School Applications / Re: Fall Grades - Schools that Request Them?

When i talked to the Dean of Admissions at UF he told me that I should send my transcript in at the end of the semester. He did not say it was required but that it could be helpful to me.

I think the best bet would be to send your fall grades if they are good and hold them if they will lower your gpa

I had a nice grammatical error in mine. I just sent an updated personal statement to 3 of the schools i applied to (the other two have accepted me, Miami and Baylor, so i guess it wasn't that big of a deal) If it is that noticeable, sent an updated copy. If they haven't begun reviewing your application already it should not be a problem.

On a side note, i spoke to the ast dean of admissions at UF and he suggested that i include a part about my academic career and it was okay to resubmit the personal statement.

I am not sure what date to put down for the time i have spent in college I am currently a senior. Should i put my graduation date in may or should i put this month???

If anyone knows please write back

Personal Statement / Re: Legal experience question

a) you should probably put it on your resume
b) if family law is where you want to practice it should probably be included in your personal statement and you can tell what experience you have dealing with family law (work)

Personal Statement / Opinion on Personal Statement

If there anybody that wants to take a read through my personal statement and give some feedback that would be great. If there is anybody with a lot of knowledge of what law schools look for in a personal statement i'd appreciate the help. I think mine is pretty good but would like some criticism.
