General Off-Topic Board / Re: MAS: Welcomes Our New Socialist Overlord

google videochat is priceless.  <3

this OP is brilliant.

anyway, i love 1L, but i have no advice to offer re studying that anyone should actually listen to. we had to write a memo for torts, which was EXTREMELY unpleasant, but we already turned our revised drafts in so i have nothing to really complain about until exam time.  we had a pretty cool assignment for the big LRW memo, and i loved writing it.  LOVED it.  so there.

i do wish my classmates who did the civpro rap would write another one that includes discovery, jury trial, privity, preclusion, and whatever other crap i've been ignoring for the latter half of the semester

you will receive a check (or you can set up a direct deposit of it into an account) for whatever is left over after all your tuition/fees have been paid.  this money will not be disbursed until your tuition has been paid, though.  it may, in fact, not be yours until a week or two into the semester.

Law School Admissions / Re: Berkeley PS, 4 Pages, Really?
« on: November 10, 2008, 11:49:11 PM »
another anecdote for the pile is that i submitted my two page PS plus a ~1.5 page DS and was accepted.  i didn't try to incorporate one into the other, and i don't think i even incorporated them into the same document for upload. LSAT/GPA were, respectively, at 75th and just below 75th.

good luck from a boalt 1L!

do you really wanna go into a civ pro exam armed with an outline that has the words "I'm guessing" in it?  IS THAT REALLY YOUR GOAL?

i haven't done any actual editing yet! the social aspect is fun (journals are just as much social groups as any club), and the notion that i'm helping to sculpt some tiny part of legal scholarship is kind of cool.  perhaps illusory, but cool.  i don't think being on anything other than law review helps with jobs, except the tech journal might, possibly, a little?  (i'm not on the tech journal)

yeah, i've done about an hour of work on my memo today, too.  i'm gonna need some serious stimulants to get me back into the swing after spending all afternoon having fun. :(
