I was just wondering if anyone out there would be kind enough to explain how curves work in law schools. I keep hearing things like  3.3 vs 2.8 etc but I haven't a clue what any of it really means. If there are some kind souls wonderful enough to explain this I would be forever grateful.

Also, does anyone by chance know the curve structures of UNLV, UC Davis and Loyolla M?

Choosing the Right Law School / How to ask for better financial aide?
« on: March 11, 2008, 12:55:47 AM »
Hey guys,

I got into UC Davis, loyolla and UNLV for 08 and I was wondering if any of you guys would be willing to help me figure out how to ask them for money. Davis hasn't gotten back to me on the issue of money, and neither has Davis. UNLV is willing to give me a full scholarship but it's only renewable if I stay in the top third of the class my second and third years. How do you think I should ask these various schools for more money? I'm worried about being both delicate and absolutely serious at the same time. Help?

UNLV is a T2 school and Davis is T1, but their hiring rates all seem similar. So my question is still, what is the difference?

74
UNLV has an 87.5% hire rate 9 months out of law school.
# employed in law firms 49 47.1
# employed in business and industry 17 16.3
# employed in government 12 11.5
# employed in public interest 8 7.7
# employed as judicial clerks 18 17.3
# employed in academia 0 0.0

Is that a good statistic?

vs Davis
87.8 employed 9 months out of law school
Pursuing graduate degrees 1 0.6
Unemployed seeking employment 3 1.7
Unemployed not seeking employment 12 7.0
Unemployed and studying for the bar 5 2.9
# employed in law firms 95 62.9
# employed in business and industry 12 7.9
# employed in government 14 9.3
# employed in public interest 13 8.6
# employed as judicial clerks 12 7.9
# employed in academia 5 3.3

Actually it's not illegal downloading dude. You don't get the full exam from someone who's taken it, but LSAC releases to their test takers a PDF version of the test they took. People have already paid for the material and it is not illegal to see it.

I don't understand the discussion about the in-state tuition of Davis. Is there a particular perk I'm not aware of to have in-state at Davis vs going to UNLV? As stated before, monetary wise UNLV will cost me 19500 for out of state, which for the second year gets lowered to 9800 a year after you change residency.  Whereas UC Davis costs 25000 in state. All of these figures are raw, without weighing in the scholarship I would be getting.

77
I would be paying in-state tuition for Davis. Total average cost to attend Davis: 40374

Total Average Cost to Attend UNLV minus scholarship: 15260
Cost of UNLV year two, worst case scenario of without scholarship: 24360 after residency change.

All of these estimates included room and board etc.

QUICK EDIT I meant UNLV not UNLC

Hey guys,

I was hoping you would give me some insight into my choices right now. I'm really worried about getting a job coming out of school but at the same time I don't want to be broke as a graduate. What do you think of these few schools?

American: no money
UNLC: Full scholarship plus 100 dollar stipend per month for 3 years contingent upon me staying in the top third of my class.

Chapman, Full scholarship for three years contingent upon me maintaining a 3.5 GPA

Loyola Marymount: No money

UC Davis: No money

Studying for the LSAT / Anybody Got the June and December 2007 Exam?
« on: January 12, 2008, 10:46:09 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm studying for the exam for February and I was hoping to get a hold of the most recent exams. If anybody's taken one of those and has a digital copy, I'd be forever grateful if you could send it to me. It would help a lot.

Thanks!
