You already know your 2L summer employment? It's roughly a year away!! I doubt BC has had OCI yet, so how did you find 2L summer work already at a V100?
EDIT: my post now became moot as the title was changed from 2L to 3L.

Try to convince me to transfer to WUSTL over W&L and leave my top 1/3 ranking at my current t1 school (ranked 35-50).
Career-wise, I would like to obtain a federal clerkship, but I realize my chances are slim even with transferring. Biglaw or simply high-paying work interests me because my debt will be over 100k.
Location: I want to be near the coast. My gf has some say too, but her preference revolves around her family, who lives in NC, and won't determine the outcome of my decision itself. (Needless, to say, she says W&L or stay at my current school.) If I had to list an order of big city preference, I'd rank them in the following order: 1) San Diego, 2) DC, 3) NYC, 4) Tampa, 5) Raleigh or VA Beach.
At the moment, my choice is W&L. I applied to WUSTL because of it's ranking, # of transfer students it takes, and because the application was free.
My whole plea for comments may become moot once I hear back from a few t14, but with my ranking, I'm surprised I have had two favorable responses so early.
Thanks in advance for the input.

I'd say the only shot you have at T14 is probably GULC ... they took 100 xfers last year
Outside that I think you should try the larger of the 15-30s ... UT, UCLA, GW. Also, I was surprised to see that Vandy took 24 xfers last year, which seems like a lot for their 200 person class. Also throw apps to those 15-30s that are known as being good for clerkships ... UMinn and W&L come to mind. And I guess if you want NYC biglaw apply to Fordham.
Outside the T14, I'm most interest in Vandy, W&L, and Notre Dame. If my odds are 50/50, I'm pleased. I figured I had at most a 10% shot at T14 and 1/3 for the t25. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Top 1/3 is sort of a big group, I don't think you have a chance at transferring to any T14 if you're just in the top 1/3, but can't hurt trying. To what degree it'd be worth it I guess depends on where you're trying to get employed. If you move from Cardozo to Iowa and want to work in NYC, it certainly wouldn't help for example.
After graduation, I would like to clerk at the federal level. I know I have no chance unless I'm at least top 10% at my current school. Some of the top 25 schools place as many as 10% into these clerkships. Depending on how many people from that school even try for clerkships, it's plausible that the top 1/3 has a chance. My next preference is biglaw, ideally in either DC or NYC. Very few grads from my current school find work in those markets, but biglaw is my foremost concern. Overall, I think a move to the top 25 is worth it, even if it costs me an extra $40k.
So are my chances for top 25 decent? I want to prepare mentally for the outcome; no need to get my hopes up for nothing, ya know.

Without meaning to hijack the thread completely, does anyone know the chances of transferring from with top 1/3 from a T40-50 school into a t25 or higher? Would such a move be worth it?
I've checked the Yahoo site, but most responses on there are from T3 or T4 students in the top 15-20%.
