And leaving behind rude comments on other people's walls with my username. What the heck?  If you want to start arguments with other users, use your own name!

After reading some of these comments, I'm feeling a bit more optimistic. My only hope is that we receive a decision in time for us to visit and get a fin. aid offer back (if admitted of course).

I do feel that a waitlist essentially is tantamount to a rejection at Yale. I mean "0-10 taken off the waitlist" each year? What wonderful odds... :D

actually, seems there's this big huge thread from previous years that talks about others who received similar letters

http://www.lawschooldiscussion.org/prelaw/index.php/topic,31221.0.html

Its looks like applicants from that cycle received the email in April - and nearly all were waitlisted.  :(

But maybe the fact that we got the email in mid February is a good sign?

I applied late October.

Well, I'm pretty happy I won't get a rejection, but I'm wondering if I should send an extra LOR or a letter of LOCI.

I honestly don't think my file is going to past muster with their faculty adcomm, so waitlist it is.  :-\

I just received an email that "based on the strength of my candidacy" I would either receive an offer of admission or a spot on the waitlist.

Is this essentially a deferral? Did anyone else get this?

Seriously, I might not get a decision until mid-April? This is going to be torturous.  :(

Edit: I'm wondering if this is a new thing this year. I couldn't find any mention of a similar email going out last year on LSN.

Anyone know how many people are nominated annually for the Levy Scholars?

Tag. I'm wondering the same thing.

I just the invite via email today. Did anyone else get it? Anyone applying?

queenie, don't mind spaulding too much mind.  he likes to pretend he has sharp edges, but he's actually a nice guy.  ;)

Vouched for.

Also, omg, visit. I know I bang this gong a lot, but it made things a hell of a lot clearer for me. Loved Penn in theory, but visiting made me see it wouldn't work. Same for CLS. OTOH, fell in lust with NYU. If I'd had $$$ from NYU, I'd've gone there instead. But didn't, so knew that I liked HLS enough to make it the smart call. Which I still think it was. And I like it okay--better than I did earlier.

I'm already planning on visiting - and honestly, that will probably be the deciding factor for me. No amount of money is worth being unhappy. :)

Does that mean you think HLS would not be willing to offer more $$?  ???

That's not a good reading of what I said, but you're beginning to be a little more needy than I think I can handle.  How old are you?  HLS will make deals around but not because CLS is a threat.  I'm not a big fan of people who are given the world and still look to find points of leverage.

Ouch.  :(

I didn't mean I expected them to match, I was just confused about your comment and wanted clarification - especially since you seem much more familiar with this process than I am.

I really do like Harvard, but obviously financial considerations are in play.  :)
