Current Law Students / PMBR- Once and for all, is it worth it?
« on: March 08, 2010, 07:16:44 PM »
The PMBR Bullies are on campus attempting to scare us out of $375 or $575, respectively.  These are 2 different packages offered, both
are for a 2 day crash course on all the 6 basic topics and various other goodies, including books, lectures, etc.

I am signed up for BarBri's full course this summer.  Question is, worth droppin the cash for this weekend event?

Current Law Students / Character and fitness
« on: September 07, 2009, 09:19:42 PM »
I am a 3L who is worried about the character and fitness portion of the Bar exam-
specifically, here's my dirty laundry:

Terrible credit.  Defaulted on 2 credit cards and had car repossessed, now there is a judgment lien against me for 10k.  Of course, my reason was "i could afford it at the time, but i lost my job and went to law school and halfway through i couldn't afford it anymore.  i tried to negotiate and plead my case, etc"

Any chance i can get licensed?

hey guys,
Thanks for the leads.  I found a place in my hometown that drafts wills pro-bono and I just sent me resume/coverletter/references to them.  I am really open to ANYTHING, because really I find almost every aspect of the law interesting save for patents.  I will check those out and see what's goin on!  Thanks again!

I am looking for a law related job, yes.  Maybe something like a firm but not so firm-ish.  What kind of public interest opportunities are out there.  I am searching and have applied to project innocence and legal aid and even a "Center for heirs preservation" organization.  I am actually starting to find some things.  Any additional leads will be helpful.  I guess after being thrown into the proverbial fire last summer and having to do the 9-6 work that i was neither trained nor qualified to do has left me worn out.  I want something casual.  I need a break!

Current Law Students / summer job ideas

I don't go to a top 20, I am not in the top 20 and I don't have a job.  Anyone have any ideas of summer employment opportunities that do not involve a law firm.  Worked at a firm last summer and hated it, dreaded every morning.  I want something "different".  Help!

Job Search / Where do bottom half students get employed?
« on: November 18, 2008, 12:22:27 PM »
Ok, so its obvious that top half of students will generally get an offer quick.  But where do the bottom half (51-100%) end up getting employed.
Ok i got it- mcdonald's, walmart, etc.

But anyone from experience or know anyone who was in the bottom half where they ended up?

Current Law Students / crap school with crap grades and crap attitude
« on: September 30, 2008, 11:51:37 PM »
i just started 2L and its been the battle of the feelings- my grades last year sucked, but i did get a summer job at least working at afirm.  ive been rejected from every OCI and my outlook is bleak.  whats more is that i cant sleep at night worried about having no money and no grades to get a job.  further, i live in a crap town with crap people and its a struggle to get to class each day, much less even read.  i mean, why is con law so f-ing boring?  why is evidence so f-ing confusing.  why is fed tax so f-ing intricate?  why do all my classes suck?  i feel like im going to fail every exam because i cant get into the groove.

is this normal?

2Lman- question-
Let's say, hell froze over and you bombed the lsat- got a say, 150- and all you got accepted to was TTT and TTTT schools.  And for the sake of argument, let's say waiting a year is out of the question- or, you bombed it again.

Wouldn't you want the opportunity to prove your worth in law school and hope to transfer, at the least?  Or would you also label yourself "worthless"?  honest question.  no disrespect intended.

I have not heard great things about UD- from what i hear, if you are going in ohio, steer clear of Dayton, capital and now toledo (they dropped from T-2 to TTT).  ohio state, Case western, cincinatti, akron and even onu are solid respectable law schools in ohio, in that order.  i might be missing a few but those are my recommendations.
