Law School Admissions / Re: Transfer Fordham to NYU
« on: June 22, 2007, 07:29:07 PM »
Fordham is an outstanding school. In fact, most of the top law firms in NYC draw extensively from Fordham. You can actually go into a firm's website and sort the attorneys by school. You'll be surprised. That said, though, regardless of your rank at Fordham, I would strongly suggest transfering to NYU.

The good news is that NYU takes the largest number of 1L transfers in the country.

The major firms really have two tranches. There is Yale, Harvard, Stanford, Columbia and NYU. Then there is a second tranche that runs from Chicago through UCLA. At many firms both Vandy and UT make the cut.

Even if you do work for a major law firm, the law school you attended will always remain a very significant factor in your career path. This holds very true if you want to work for a corporation or a publicly traded private equity firm later in your career.

Hope this helps.

My guess is that the 150-175 is the number that will be on the waitlist after withdrawals. I bet the hold list wasn't pared down from several hundred to 150 when measured against invitations send by mail. The biigest reduction likely comes in the form of attrition.

Status checker showed change today for some I'm told. Former "Hold" decision moved back to "Complete." Must be the process by which a few are accepted, many rejected and an unknown number moved to the "Summer Waitlist."

Just saw it on

I see they are moving. UT is taking hight LSAT/low GPA and Vandy is taking low LSAT/high GPA.
