Hey Trojan -

Rumor has it that Idaho wants out of playing USC next year, and USC's going to give it to them.  Apparently, USC is negotiating with Miami to fill that spot in September.

As much as I want to play you guys though, I'm petrified of a Miami schedule that plays Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and USC in September, and then @ FSU, @ Va Tech, and @ BC.

We really need a f-ing miracle...  :-\

Wow, that would be hawt.  Im getting flushed just thinking about it.  8)

Oh and Trojan...if we do get Fisher and Chow, it would be VERY interesting to play you guys next year...

That would be even sexier.   :)   Yo, if that happens, you want to make like a college football gentleperson's bet: UM wins, I take some pics with some UM gear on, vice cersa?

Boise St. is not great.

Any team in the Top 25 would be undefeated with their schedule

As much as I hate the argument by proxy...

-USC did lose to Oregon State, who Boise State demolished.
-BSU regularly manhandles Fresno State, who has competed with and nearly beat many major powerhouses (though not this year - although Pat Hill defiantly claims that BSU can hang with any team in the nation, and he's played a great deal of them).
-And I don't know if a team in the nation wants to play Hawaii right now.

Look, do I think BSU is a genuine top-20 team? Probably not. But we're comparing apples to crabapples in terms of resources and recruiting. BSU takes the talent they can get, with the schedule they have, and does as well as they can with it. And they do really, really well.

Though I think this years' BSU isn't as good as 2 years ago, I think if we finished undefeated we deserve a BCS game. Not because I necessarily think we'll win (but you never know), but more because it's another rung on the ladder for us to climb. The money and exposure we get from a BCS helps us land better recruits, more tv deals, more money, and the leverage to jump to a better conference and schedule better opponents. This in turn helps develop us into a genuine powerhouse team, which I surely realize we aren't right now.

But we deserve a BCS if we win out...bottom line.

Boise tries to schedule teams, but it doesn't work out for two reasons: we can't afford to pay bigger teams, and most of them won't take a home-away series.

Bigger schools have no incentive to schedule really good mid-majors, because if they beat them, oh well...and if they don't, well, that's obvious.

Which is why the BCS is sorta bad. You have to give undefeated teams a shot at a BCS game, but the fact is is when BSU plays Texas this year in the Fiesta Bowl, we'll get slaughtered (we being BSU).

We need at the very least a 16 team playoff system. Something like the champions of each conference, and then the BCS conferences get another team or two in the playoffs. At least give the mid-majors that win out a shot at some teams.

I don't understand the problem. If Boise St is going to get slaughtered by Texas, why should they be ranked any higher?

I don't remember saying they should be ranked higher.

I was suggesting that deserving teams get screwed under the current system, whether it would be an undefeated BSU, or a 1 loss team like Auburn that might miss out on a BCS game, and we need to give teams that play tough schedules, as well as teams that dominate whatever schedule they play, a shot to play each other.

It's not the BCS' job to make sure everyone gets a piece of a big-money bowl game. And I don't think Boise St. is deserving.

Perhaps jumping the gun, but is an undefeated BSU more deserving than a 2-loss Cal?
*ahem* make that a 3-loss Cal

Ouch. no love for the Trojans?  Dont forget that Pete has a knack for having his guys playing their best at the end of the season (except for the indominable, per se).
I can only hope that USC wins out, but I am sure that USC will beat both Cal, and Notre Dame.

For posterity.

Oh, and...GO DUCKS!

For posterity.

Cal's next  8)

You, my friend, have impeccable timing.   :D

How are you?  I've been missing you in this thread!

:) Very well Ms. HurriCanesChica, thank you.

What's good in Miami?

Aggs need to lose so they get rid of that worthless coach...

Just as long as they beat Texas (not likely, I'll admit).

I'm praying that the Aggies win out except for their game against Texas.  I hope they get a bowl bid and win that too, just so that Fran stays there and keeps sucking it up.  A&M won't beat Texas, that's laughable.

And after the tOSU v Michigan game wraps up, Texas will very likely be #2 in the AP and Coaches' Poll.  This is exciting stuff!  I'm beginning to dream about the Colt v Troy rematch....

The question is, will they be #2 in the BCS poll after their Big XII title game?

Wouldn't it depend on how the SEC turns out?

 ;D

Exactly.  If Florida wins out, then I think they'd probably be ranked higher than Texas.

That's what I'm thinking/hoping.  No pressure Urban Meyer... :P

I still have a problem not referring to him as "Urban Legend."   :D

how about 'urban cowboy'?

oh, and btw, florida will lose to arkansas in the sec championship, as will texas to nebraska.
usc probably loses to notre dame, much as i hate to say it.  voters will finally see the light and put arkansas ahead of auburn.  my final final five are:

1 - Ohio State
2 - Notre Dame
3 - Arkansas
4 - Cal
5 - Michigan

The only reason arkansas isnt ranked ahead of notre dame is that the irish are media darlings.

In my mind, the national title game will be the OSU vs. Mich game.  Those two are flat-out the best in the country.  In my opinion, if OSU loses, they should fall to #2.  If Michigan loses, they should stay at #2.  It never works that way, however.  Fuckers.

A team that does not win their conference should not play in the national title game.

That is all.

UM OSU is not an acceptable matchup for the NC game (unless the first one is some kind of tripppple overtime barn burner)

Can any Texas fans explain to me how UT could get into the title game over another one loss SEC team?

I'm not a UT fan, but only losing to OSU is not a bad start. And I'm not as impressed with the SEC as I was earlier in the season.

BTW, Cal is all alone on top of the Pac-10 Standings, and could potentially finish the season #2 in the nation. You heard it here first.

u still have to play USC; something about counting chickens comes to mind
