Funny, I used to go to NYC every weekend and I never knew it was there.

did you apply to any schools on the west coast?

Didn't know that.  I see that it's on the upper west.  You're right, that would be a fine place to go to school.

Thank you, SparkyZ!

He must really like the Bronx.  Is Fordham really good for IP law or something?

I was already nuts, but I think this has made my condition even worse.

Oh well, at least it's something to chew on.

That's what I think (tiers w/in tiers), but not what I know.  I would be a little surprised if the differences between the emails really didn't mean anything.

It's frankly surprising that GULC bothers to send out different letters at all.  I mean, they have no obligation to do that and they don't really gain much by doing so.  They could have just sent us all the you're-in-the-special-group letter and, as long as there's one person on the waitlist who didn't get it, it would have been completely honest.

I'm also curious as to whether GULC knows that we discuss this stuff.  I mean, the golden letter sounds much more golden when you know that other people got the aluminum version.  If you received the golden one in a vacuum you'd probably just assume nothing's really changed vis a vis statuses on the WL.  You'd think they were just giving you bad news about no spots opening up in May.

Finally, I don't think that Fredd's email necessarily tells us that spots are opening in the PT program.  You can't prove a negative, but we've seen no evidence of any such activity for PT... so I think it's possible that no spots have opened up for PT as of May 1.  I also think they probably sent out a more limited number of golden emails (more limited than original golden PPWL letters of March) based on that and some yearly average figure of those who make the first but not the second deposit for the pt program. My guess is the number of golden emails was probably determined by this formula:

# golden emails = (a) x (yearly average # spots that open in PT program between May-June)

where a is a number that is greater than 1 and probably in the 2-5 range.

Guess upon inferences upon guesses, but it seems logical.

discoverer,

I wouldn't be discouraged by the non-responsiveness.  Sounds like they have a lot going on there right now.  It does sound to me, though, like we shouldn't be encouraged by the email we've received.

welcome swim.

Know what you mean...  I'm not as hopeful as I was when I woke up this morning.

hey killjoy, just out of curiosity, did they only mention part-time in your letter?  have they mention fulltime in your correspendences since your march letter?
