I found out about this fellow who works at Milbank LLP in NYC... He went through the same program, either KCL (2 years) plus Columbia (2 years) or vice versa. He graduated with both a JD and a LLB in the same year, 2006.

Hi Saja!

Thanks for the quick reply... Since you mentioned it, I actually do have a couple questions for you =) Thank you so much.

1) What program did you take up in Queen's? I applied for English, but I'm not sure whether that's what I want to do and whether that would be an appropriate undergrad degree for a future in Law. Apparently the scholarship will still apply if I choose to change my program, so I'm reconsidering...

2) If you go to CLS, are you planning on returning to Canada to practise? Do you know anything about the process of a "foreign law degree" coming back to Canada (ie. do we have to take an exam or do another year to "convert" the degree?)

Hmm... that's all I can think of for the moment, will probably bug you later, please and thank you ever so much  ;D

;D Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound as if I am certain I will be one of the top 2 or 3. I just wanted to convey that the KCL/Columbia thing could be a possibility should I choose to go to King's.

If I go to Queen's, I would have to do 4 years of undergrad before moving on to law school....

in any case, thanks for replying so quickly~  :)

Hi all,

I am a Grade 12 Canadian student who can't decide where to go for university!! I've narrowed it down to 2 choices:
1) Queen's University in Ontario, Canada
FACTORS: I received a scholarship for $36,000.
OR
2) King's College (KCL) in London, England to study LAW.
FACTORS: At King's, the top 2 or 3 students have the opportunity to study Law for two years at KCL and two years at Columbia in the United States, thereby earning both a law degree from KCL and a JD from Columbia in four years.

I'm really having difficulty deciding between these 2 universities and would appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Thanks!
