I hear ya.  But waiting is something I've grown accustomed to. (Navy's unofficial motto: hurry up and wait)  :D :D

The problem is that I already feel like I'm running out of time.  Anyone else having this problem?  I have to register with the VA so I can get them to complete the immunization stuff, I graduate this week, so can't get my official transcript until then, I have to find an apt somehow over the internet, fly down to Atlanta and check it out, and move by August 1...and I feel like June will be a wasted month because of everything else I have to do in life... lol...

August is going to come too early!!! But I can't wait...I'm getting so pumped to move again, and finally get my own apt again.  Even if I will be driving for days to get anywhere. lol...

When I hear gunner, I think Arsenal FC....  ;D

LOL!  When I think gunner...I think of it from a navy point too.  Though as a previous Fire Controlman myself, I would never call an FC a gunner or vice versa...

But glad to see someone else riding my wavelength!  :D :D

It's definitely worth asking about.  Question though...since my understanding is that the law school doesn't have its own financial aid office (it's through the UG school), should I call the office of financial aid or admissions for that kind of question?

I think it's because of my outsider status at Penn State (continuing ed. student who went to a lot of night school) I never really asked administrative questions and hardly ever dealt directly with the school staff--so don't really know the proper thing here--do the administrative staff get annoyed by phone calls?   :-\

thanks for the info!

It looks like becoming a resident isn't as easy in GA as it is in other states.  I'll give them a call though anyway...

So...do you think they'll send out the section letters even if we haven't sent in our immunization stuff yet?

Hey everyone!

Thanks for posting!!

I'm glad to see people are actually attending GSU on here...was starting to wonder if there were any others out there ;)

I will be attending GSU FT in the fall.  I have not returned my immunization records as of yet, and since my final grades for this semester have not been turned in, I have not given them a final transcript yet either, so I haven't been assigned to a section.  I wasn't able to make it to the ASD (I live near Philly right now), so I missed out on any good information that was dispensed.

By the way..FESTUS...yes, I am a vet!  I served 6 years in the Navy.

Thanks AtlAggie for recommending Midtown.  I'm definitely trying to keep the rent costs as low as possible since I'm going to be living off of loans and the GI Bill, I'd like to leave school with the least amount of debt possible.

Speaking of which, does anyone know Georgia's (and thus GSU's) policy on in-state residency and the timeline?  If I move down to Atlanta beginning of August this year, and change my residency after living there for a year, could I be considered in-state for my 2L and 3L years? Or are the standards a bit tough?  I'll check the boards more often now that I know other posters are on here :)  Not to mention that tomorrow is my last day of finals (and the undergrad years will finally be officially over!), so I'll have a little more time to surf the net...

Can't wait to see you guys in August!!

thanks Big Slick--

I'm sure I'll have more Q's soon.  I'm just worried about trying to find a place to live down there for now, but once this semester is officially over (2 more finals to go), and my summer officially starts, I'm sure I'll be doing all the unnecessary research into Atlanta, and probably bugging you with all kinds of questions!  ;D

It's my LS of choice as well--even after the Denver acceptance.  I'm looking forward to moving down there!

Well, I was just accepted to Denver, and put on Indiana's waiting list, but even if I got into that one, I'm still pretty sure I'm going to Georgia State.

I have no real intentions of staying in Atlanta--I will stay if I like it, but if not, then I'll move back to Virginia or try somewhere new.  I haven't really decided where I want to live yet.  To be honest...alumni base is not as important as you think.  If you want a job bad enough, you can find a job wherever you go.  I have no problems with my interviewing skills, and already will have a large alumni base by graduating undergrad from Penn State, so I'm not worried.  As long as you work hard in law school, and do internships/externships that give you experience, work during the summers, and are personable--you'll do fine.  I don't want a biglaw job anyway, so that's not a concern for me.

My main concern is where to live down in Atlanta...thank you for the Dunwoody and Brookhaven suggestions.  I've lived in a suburb of Philadelphia for the past 3 years and I'm fully aware that you can live someplace nice and 5 min. down the road you aren't in a nice neighborhood anymore.  So living suggestions help me out a lot, especially since I haven't lived there and know where the bad parts are.

I'll look up Dunwoody and Brookhaven...in the meantime, are there any other suggestions of nice (but relatively cheap) neighborhoods?

(traffic will suck, but I'll be fine.  I lived near DC for 2 years, and then lived in Southern California for 2 years too, not to mention Philly traffic isn't that great either...it just lets me know I'll need to bring all my CD's to listen to on the drive)

I have not visited the campus, but I assume that it is much like VCU in Richmond...or most colleges in the middle of the downtown area of a city.  But, I'd rather be there in an urban setting than at Penn State in a completely rural setting with nothing to do... I've actually only driven through Atlanta, so questions about where and where not to live are the most important, I believe. (at least, right now).  I won't be able to afford $1200, and will be bringing my car, so I assume I'll be driving.  Is there a decent mass transit system in place in Atlanta?  Do you recommend using it?  I've heard traffic in Atlanta is absurd, and frankly is the only thing that worries me about the city...but considering all the other pluses, is something I'm willing to deal with.   :)
