There are numerous threads on this site re: Davis, or at least Davis v. Hastings. Do a search for Davis and you'll find reviews ranging from "Crappy cow-town" to "the happiest place on earth. Personally it's my number one choice, though I'm currently on hold, so obviously it's not looking too good.

I'm still waiting too. I've been in "The review process generally takes several weeks" status for over 3 months. They need to change weeks to months in their statement.
rick8481: I think you're forgetting about Emory as far as the most prestigious school, though I'd like to think you're correct since I still might be accepted to UGA.

I never realized how many unaccredited, accredited but not ABA approved, and correspondence law schools there are (at least in CA). Below is a link to the CA bar passage rates for July 2004:http://www.calbar.ca.gov/calbar/pdfs/admissions/GBX/JULY2004STATS.pdf#search='general%20statistics%20report%20july%202004%20california%20bar
It appears that some schools have almost no one passing the bar exam! Imagine if a prospective student asked the admissions staff at the University of Northern California, Lorenzo Patino School of Law about the bar passage rates, and they had to tell them that 0 of 20 first time takers passed the last exam, but on a positive note 2 of 18 repeat takers were successful!

For anyone interested, here's exactly what they sent me on 4/7/05. Maybe it will clarify to whom they're referring:
"Our goal is to complete the evaluation process by the middle of this month. If all goes well, you should hear from us sometime between now and about the 15th of the month (give or take a few days).

That's what they told me regarding people whose files are still on hold. Everyone will be notified by 4/15 (plus or minus a day or two). Chances at this point?

I have to admit that I didn't spend as much time as I'd have liked exploring the city. I'm planning to go back in a few weeks and hopefully I'll get a better feel.

I went to the campus visit day as well. It stood out to me how well maintained the campus was. I swear, at least half of our tuition has to go toward landscaping and gardening to keep it that nice. It is a formal feeling atmosphere and it feels like you should be dressed up and in professional mode just to walk around.
It was my first time in San Diego, and I have mixed opinions. The weather is incredible and everything is very, very nice. Other cities probably dream of their downtowns being like San Diego's. It's exceptionally clean and there is a ton of entertainment and restaurants. My big problem is that everything seems a bit sterile. It's almost like some kind of pod people type deal, where everything is in harmony, but there seems to be a lack of creativity and culture. I guess there is the good looking people/tan/surf culture, but there is no spark like in New Orleans, San Francisco, Portland, etc.
Aside from that, the school seems quite good, with solid career possibilities and starting salaries, intelligent yet accessible professors, etc.
I just don't know. I was hoping to be blown away, and as pretty as everything is, I'm just not feeling it.

I'm actually on "hold" at Davis. Anyone know someone getting in after being on hold, or how long a decision might take?
